Mobius Group

Mobius Group, often abbreviated to Mobius or simply as MG, was a major consortium regrouping various industries and whose main goal was the colonization and exploitation of the Ceryx System. It regrouped a wide selection of corporations, specialized in various industries that were deemed necessary for interstellar colonization. Everything from the colony ships to the most mundane smart terminals used to settle Asteria and the other planets in the Ceryx system were designed and manufactured locally by Mobius.

While most of Mobius' assets were located in the Ceryx system, the consortium also maintained several facilities throughout the Aurigan system, most notably shipyards and various manufacturing stations. These remained in operation until the late 200s, when the consortium finally moved all of its operations in Ceryx. Mobius thus maintained a near-monopoly of all industrial and commercial activities happening in the system, with very few other companies operating under license.

Ever since the discovery of the Ceryx system in 146, Humanity's will to push its boundaries has made it a common goal for many to colonize Asteria and the rest of the Ceryx system. The construction of Convergence Station, which began in 146 with the first design proposals, saw the global cooperation of many industrial conglomerates and corporations. These were not, however, united by a single goal as one would expect. While these corporations all desired to be on the forefront of interstellar travel and exploration, the ludicrous amount of funds required to complete Convergence Station progressively made those expectations shrink until the mere completion of the station would be seen as a great success.

Convergence Station would eventually be completed in 167, more than twenty years after the discovery of Ceryx. By this time, MINERVA's funding had reached a critical state due to the severe cost overruns of the station. As a result, the charter to settle and exploit the Ceryx system, previously thought to remain within MINERVA's possession, was put to sale for a ludicrous sum of nearly three trillion PLVs in the early 160s. Naturally, no singular corporation or person possessed nearly enough funds to purchase this charter. In an unexpected turn of events, however, Mobius Technologies, an influential company specialized in high-end electronics began to merge with other companies from various industries in a bid to afford the fabled charter.

After merging with 37 other corporations in less than six years, including rival groups that attempted the same, the Mobius Group was created. With no rivals to speak of, and the nearly limitless industrial and scientific capabilities of MINERVA at its disposal, the group finally reached the amount of funds required to purchase the charter and begins the colonization of Ceryx as a whole in 159. Naturally, the rate as which the group absorbed other companies was so fast that many projects had to run concurrently to properly integrate every member firm's capabilities, slowing down the colonization program by nearly a decade. In 169, however, the unrivaled Mobius Group sent its first wave of colony ships through Convergence Station.
