Water Truce
It is the sacred law of our people that we hold dear, allowing ourselves to quench our thirst without the need to harm one another. - Desert Nomad
History
Truce of Survival
It was said that at the Shera'ae Oasis, the first Water Truce was established between the desert tribes that sought to keep the peace during the time that they rested from the hardship of the desert, the time to drink their fill of water. Here, the tribes shared for the first time, without the desire to fight, after decades of fighting for survival, just to enjoy that they were alive. This peace would not last forever, but they knew the importance of the life-giving power of water should be shared with all where it was plentiful. It was by the time that they would leave that they swore to share the water of the desert should they ever cross paths. Ever since that day, the Water Truce has been kept as one of the most sacred of laws amongst the tribes, with few daring to break the truce for fear of the greatest of punishments possible. For the longest time, it was seen as a simple truce amongst the Maruk Desert Tribes, but as time passed, it became clear that the truce meant something more, a blessing of life for all that lived under the scorching sun, and sharing it amongst all that hold peace dear to their hearts.Execution
Whenever tribes and outsiders stay at an oasis or exchange water with one another, they commit to a non-aggression pact of peace where, no matter what feuds may be transpiring between them, they are not to cause harm to one another, nor allow one another to do so. Just like with the laws of beasts in the wild, so too shall men share the water that gives them all life in the harsh and brutal desert that can easily claim them all without it. None shall shed blood during this time as it is a time of life were death has no place at such a time.
