The First Ember As spoken in the Dawn of Breath, when stillness first took fire.  

The Coming of the Exalted

In the time before time,   When there was no name, no breath, no song,   There stirred a spark in the deep.   And from that spark arose The Exalted, Spirit unbroken, Flame undying.   From his breath came the winds. From his heart came the fire. And with both, He kindled the souls of all living things.  

Of the Flame Within

Hear these words, O children of the ember:   The Exalted is the Flame unseen, And the Breath that never fails.   He has set a spark in every heart. Guard it, for it is His gift. Feed it with mercy, Strengthen it with truth, And let not the shadow smother it.   For when the ember is tended, The spirit grows bright as a beacon, And the Exalted walks beside thee. Know this: in every living heart burns the ember of The Exalted.    

The Path of the Faithful

Lift the fallen as a torch lifts the shadow.   Speak no word that quenches the soul.   Shield the wavering flame of your brother,   And when your own light falters,   Seek the breath of the faithful.  

Of Trial and Purging

Know this, O faithful:   The flame is tested by the wind. The ember is sharpened by the storm.   Pain is not punishment. Struggle is not wrath. They are the bellows of the Exalted, That the flame may rise brighter.   But those who fall to cruelty, Those who give themselves to lies, Who feast upon the ashes of the meek, These are the Ashen, And their spark is lost Until repentance kindles it anew.  

The Promise of the Salvation

When the last wind stirs the last ember, And the fires of the world fall silent, The Exalted shall gather the faithful sparks, Holding them close within His breast.   And from their light Salvation shall rise, And the world shall burn with glory once more.   Thus is the Covenant of the Exalted, Sealed in breath, bound in flame, spoken forever.
