Rubor's Rest

Rubor is always with us, even while he sleeps, for we are born from his stone and will return to him to share our lives so he may know our joys and sorrows till the time comes to awaken. - Giant Priest
Deep within the vast range of the Creseant Peaks lies an astounding mountain for anyone. While it may seem skeptical since most mountains hold a majesty of their own, not many have a face that stares sternly across the hills as if they were watching over them. This place is considered a sacred place amongst the Giants as it is believed that the mountain to be Rubor, the god of the giants that lies dormant in a sleep he has yet to awaken from.

Geography

The mountain itself is part of the Creseant Peaks, a mountain range found in the continent's southern region. Although it is said to be found in the eastern region, it is hard to get to as it lies deep within it.

Localized Phenomena

Blizzards: Being a place where only snow falls from the sky, blizzards can easily consume anyone caught in them on the mountain trail could cause them to freeze to death or be unable to see where they are going, making them lost or their demise.   Strong Winds: The higher one goes up the mountain, the stronger the winds can be for anyone caught in them, resulting in them facing increasingly cold temperatures and possibly being blown off of it should they lose their footing.   Avalanches : Large quantities of snow build up on the mountain over time that will eventually break off, unleashing a massive wave of force that swallows up anything in its path.

Climate

Being in a mountain range makes any attempt to climb the mountain to be cold and harsh for anyone that lacks the fortitude and skill to climb it. For Giants it is not to hard since they are able to brush off the hardship that mountain has to offer, but any other race will face the full fury that it has to offer.

History

The Sleeping God

While many believe that the mountain is nothing more than a carving made by the Giants to honor their creator, they, on the other hand, genuinely believe that it is their god, Rubor, the mountain itself! To many who wonder how this could be, no one knows the actual cause, not even the Giants themselves, yet many stories have been spoken about it, such as him listening to the Fire Heart deep with the earth that gave him comfort and placed into a deep sleep or an epic clash between Felsir gods that would see him defeat and wounded being forced to become one with the earth to heal yet was unable to awaken. Whatever the story may be true, it always results in one ending, with Rubor being asleep so long that his body turns to stone to become that very mountain he is named after. During this slumber, the Giants would be without the support of their deity and would see them attempt to awaken him any way they could for thousands of years. Yet all would fail, with them reaching the peak of their civilization to its downfall with the arrival of Humans to Norria.   While Rubor may not be fully awake to aid his people, many of the Giants believe he can still hear them as he dreams and offers them visions and wisdom through the earth. This has made the mountain a massive temple in the eyes of giants, and frequently holds pilgrimages to the mountain for worship. Their faith in the return of their god has not yet wavered in them, even after all that has happened to them. It is mainly believed to be due to the creation of the Giants, who were said to have been born from Ruber's stony flesh, which created them and still holds a strong presence, with them being a part of their god. All of it is in the hopes that the day will finally arrive when their god finally wakes up to return his people to their former glory. None can say what this would result in for Norria, only that it might not end well for all that may face the wrath of a god.

Tourism

The mountain is a sacred place that only Giants can walk upon, seeing it as holy ground. Only his children are allowed to pray and sing to the mountain to awaken their god on pilgrimages to this place. Those of the Earth Blood Giants often do it as they solely live in the Creseant Peaks to visit, with very few Snow Blood Giants attempting to make the journey. Those who are not Giants that are said to be allowed to walk upon it are blessed by Rubor or are considered kin to the Giants to gain entry.

All that walk upon the great Rubor shall know his blessing upon their journey to wake him. - Giant Pilgram
While the entire mountain is considered holy, worship can be done from the base to its highest peak. Yet the Giants designed it to determine how much dedication a Giant is willing to climb the mountain and have their prayers by Rubor himself. A series of shrines have been placed at different heights, with it being said that the higher one reaches these shrines, the more likely he will hear them. The highest of these shrines is found in a cave near the top, which is said to be one of Rubor's ears. Allowing the most faithful to be able to speak directly to him and to hear their prayer in the hopes of receiving a blessing or having the slightest chance of waking up the god and being made a true follower of the faith.
