Brotherhood of The Soul

Come forth with your sick and your weary so that they may be given the care that they deserve in the warmth of their divine savior. Brotherhood Priest
Beyond the fine marble and the wealth of those who live in abundance lie those who are not fortunate, who struggle to get by in poverty; they can never escape it. To most people, they are not even given a glance as they plead for help when they need it most, but all is not lost, for there are those who stumble in the dark who will always find a light by those who are willing to let it shine upon them, in this case the faithful Brotherhood of The Soul. Founded by Saint Minerva the Charitable, the brotherhood's goal has always been to help those in need in the worst of places and show them the way out through love of the one veritable god.

Structure

Soul Vicar: The head of the brotherhood that helps maintain its holdings and ensures that all funding and supplies are correctly distributed to carry out their mission without any setbacks.   Soul Luminary: Priests who have dedicated their lives to the service of helping others in need through aid and faith in this life and beyond.   Lumos Acolyte: Those who have yet earned their status as a Luminary and act as aids in the daily running of the Luminarium by helping conduct rituals and prayers to the masses when needed.

Being A Member

Welcome to the Brotherhood, my kinsmen of the soul, for you have come to carry a significant burden upon your shoulders by donning the black. Our order has always strived to see that the will of the creator is met with kindness and compassion to those who need it the most. For its is our sacred duty to do so as we are all children of the Exalted and should have no issues to aiding the peoples of the world no matter how different they may be. While we may not see it we all have a soul that he gifted to us to know that his light is always with us no matter how far we stray from it. In offering our hand to them we often them the way towards salvation through our actions as we show all who are willing to follow to find the love with the faith

What People Think of You

Amongst many circles inside and outside of the Luminarium, the Brotherhood of Soul is considered to be a modest and honorable group that dedicates itself to the service of the creator himself. Their efforts have given rise to the spreading of the faith and commerce to all the places where they deliver aid that the rulers of such places had abandoned. It has, however, made some people see them as a threat to their power, as the people see these priests as saviors who are more willing to help them than those who lord over them. There have been cases where members of the brotherhood have been harmed and harassed by such people, especially in a foreign land where foreign gods are worshipped. These cases are few and rare, as most know better than to attack them or face the wrath of the Luminarium and its military power to strike them down.

Public Agenda

The divine duty of the brotherhood is to bring aid to those who are unable to help themselves and ensure that they may prosper.

Assets

Donations: The brotherhood often gains much of its funding from donations from anyone willing to spare a few coins for the impoverished to feed and clothe them.   Sanctuaries : Various buildings have been renovated to be used in the brotherhood's mission to help those in need, no matter what part of the world they are in.   Missionaries : While most missionaries are tasked with spreading the faith, those who are a part of the brotherhood's first duty are to help those in need, all the while willingly teaching the faith when they are ready to do so.

History

Saint's Compassion

In a time of hardship and struggle, much of the Western Lands were still recovering from the horrors of the Night War decades prior, leaving tens of thousands displaced and without the proper needs to survive. Many were left abandoned as their nations had fallen, and the remaining powers carved out new borders, still assessing the damage and determining what needed to be rebuilt. Many more would have perished if it were not for the compassion of one nun whose heart was radiant with the light of The Exalted to help those in need. Her name was Minerva Kolosta, and it would be her voice that would challenge the Luminarium of the Exalted in their dismissal of the suffering going on around them. While many would ridicule her for her actions against the religious leadership, others would eventually stand up alongside her, and this could ultimately lead to the founding of the Brotherhood of The Soul to provide aid to these desperate refugees.   In the years that followed, the Brotherhood, despite being a small band of the faithful, would inspire others to help those in need. They did not do it for recognition and fame; it was out of generosity and kindness, as all people were the same as they were the children of the Exalted down to their very soul in need. They offered what little comfort that they could, aiding in the building of new communities and helping their people to get back on their feet to live everyday lives once more. As they grew more prevalent within the Luminarium, its leader would recognize their efforts by sending them more resources to support their mission of aiding others. Even after the reconstruction of the West was complete, they continued to pursue their goal of helping the needy, driven by the warmth of their faith in their hearts, which they shared with those they helped.

Deliverance From Suffering

Long after Minvera's death and her ascension to sainthood, the Brotherhood continued to carry on her legacy as its operations expanded further across the West and beyond, delivering aid to those trapped by injustice and conflict. It is not an easy task for its members, as they are often found in the horrid places, witnessing the worst that Humanity has to offer, and will usually face many dangers while trying to help the people living there. Yet they persist in their duties to save as many as they can from the darkness seek to engulf and damn them for all eternity once their time in this world comes to an end. Through their faith and the sacrifices they have made for others, they have transformed the lives of many who would have otherwise struggled to find meaning in life, having just tried to survive. This would become their salvation, and in seeing it, they would truly understand what faith can achieve through those who embody its virtues with selfless acts.   These acts would, in turn, welcome them to join a faith that gave them a chance when they had nothing to offer in return. Those who choose to carry out such a duty will gain nothing in return but to spread the light of the Exalted to all those who need it. Never to turn away a plea for help if they require it, as no one is beyond saving in their eyes under the faith. Bringing about much-needed change to entire communities that lacked the means to get out of their squalor and rebuild them from the ground up to be something more than what they could ever possibly imagine. This is the divine mandate that has been given to them, and that is what they will continue to do, carry out their missions to help anyone who needs it, whether they are willing or not, in the hopes of bringing them into the fold and being brought back into the light, and ensure that they may be save thought the compassion that has been given to them with no demands to be made of them.

Uniforms of Burden

To wear these robes is to bear the burden that shall never end till all hardship is vanquished from the world. - Soul Luminary
While it is customary for members of the luminarium to wear white to signify their status as priests, the brotherhood of the Soul often wears black instead to symbolize the struggle they face. To wear these robes is to know the suffering of the world that they must ease from the masses that beg for help where there is none. Letting them stand out from the priesthood and let people know that they are willing to bring aid to all who ask for it, no matter the hardship.

Guiding Light

by Jester%

All souls are the gift of the Exalted; therefore, all the people of the world are his children whom we must help to see the light. - Young Acolyte
While their primary task is to provide aid to the impoverished, the Brotherhood is also tasked with spreading the faith to them, so that they may save their eternal souls from damnation as well. While this may seem like forced indoctrination to receive help, the Soul Luminaries never force it upon the people they assist; instead, they allow them to choose to open up to the idea, whether they are pagan or not, and genuinely devote themselves to the faith. This has led to more success than with most other methods used in the past, with positive change being the primary goal of every mission they undertake.
