Moonlink Chains

When wrapped around the arms, chest, or throat, the chains drink the transformative energy and store it in their links, as the magic is literally bound within the metal, keeping the victim’s body from changing shape while the chains hold. The chains tighten and loosen on their own, moving like snakes as they adapt to the wearer’s struggle. For every hour of restraint, the chains grow heavier and more painful; blood may bead from beneath the metal. Make it impossible for shapeshifters to change their form in their attempt to escape them. When unlocked, the chains unleash the stored change energy in one violent burst main to subdue the shapeshifter should they became violent upon release. If the chain is broken or removed without the proper command word, the transformation happens all at once, often catastrophically.

It has become a sure fire way to keep supernatural beings that are able to transform or shapeshifter from causing harm when they have been captured. While most of the time creatures of a supernatural nature are mainly killed as soon as possible due to how dangerous they are, their are some cases where they have to be captured for various reasons such as acquiring information from them or lack the means to actually destroy them. Leading to the chains rendering them powerless to cause harm to its captors for certain amount of time.
