This document contains what is assumed to be the 'bedtime story' mentioned during the last interview with the children of murder victim #3 in the 'Elesvale Ghoul' case.
It's still unknown exactly where Elgin Graff-Iner managed to find the complete retelling and as such its authenticity is disputed. It's also not yet been entirely clear why the former Distict-Director assigned it such a great amount of significance.
Once upon a time, on a world far far away, lived a monster with no name to call its own. The monster was sad and unhappy because it wanted a name of its own really badly. It’d cry and cry and cry, inconsolable.
Then, one evening, it looked to the naked stars and said, “Here I sit all alone, unhappy and nameless. Not anymore. I will go and find the most wonderful name to call my own!”.
And with those words it left home and set out on a journey. It walked, and walked, and walked. It eventually came upon a town. It was located in a beautiful valley, nestled between a crystal-clear lake and a verdant forest.
There was a construction worker standing at its outskirts, and the monster boldly approached them. “Excuse me,” it said, “Please give me your name”. The construction worker looked upon the monster while they wiped sweat from their brow. “You can’t give away a name,” they answered.
But the monster persisted, “If you give me your name, I will give you my strength in exchange”. Their eyes opened wide in surprise. “Really? If you can make me strong and fearless, then yes, I will give you my name”. And the monster did as it promised and embraced them. It became Suhya’berecso and was happy for a while, because now it had a name.
Not a very special name, it thought, but a name nonetheless.
And Suhya’berescso became the strongest person in town and could lift even the largest of cerrocrete blocks with just one hand! But then one day they suddenly screamed, “Help, please help! Can't you see the monster inside of me!?”

The hungry monster ate poor Suhya’beresco from the inside out until there was nothing left behind. And the monster again became nothing more than a monster without a name. Even when it embraced the well-known tailor Oshao’arjyameo…

It was once more just a monster without a name. And when it embraced Erinye’khtosi, the famous artist…

It still returned to being just a monster without a name. The monster cried for a while but didn’t give up on its search for a wonderful name. It left the town to continue its journey. After many days it found an estate of pearly white walls and countless colored-glass windows. As it peered through one of them it found a very sick child lying in their bed.
The monster quietly crept inside, all the way up to the edge of the bed, and spoke to the child. “If you give me your name, I will give you my strength”. The child looked at the monster and replied. “If you can cure my illness and make me strong, I will give you my name”. The monster smiled warmly and embraced the child.
The next day the child was miraculously cured, and everyone was happy. Most of all the Luminary and their spouse, who shouted “My child is well! My child is well!”. And the monster was happy too because it really liked the name it got, and it also liked living in the mansion.
So even though it was hungry, it endured. Every day its stomach rumbled louder and louder.
But finally, it was so hungry that the child suddenly exclaimed at the dinner table, “Help! Please help! Can't you see the monster inside of me!?”. And then the child ate the luminary, their spouse, and their siblings and other children too.

They ate even the servants and the pets.

Until there was only the child left. The mansion’s halls and rooms were all empty and silent. The monster finally had a name, but all the people who could call it by it had disappeared.
What a shame, for it was such a wonderful name.
Very creepy and fun story! :D I really love how you told it and its conclusion.
Thank you, glad you liked it! <3
