Yedian Union

Tazan was once a small but wealthy desert nation. Blessed with incredible reserves of fossil fuels, the tiny state quickly amassed immense wealth as the world came to depend more and more upon their supply. However, their constant exportation gave them incredible insight into the future. Oil wells were drying up, and the world would need to change.   With this foresight, they were the first to finish construction of a space elevator. Once the planet's oil and coal were used up, they were quick to step in as the solution. Ever the shrewd businessmen, they entered into agreements that saw Tazan benefiting immensely with neighboring desert nations, causing the small nation's sphere of influence to rapidly expand out. However, when they tried to go north up into the more temperate nations of Ugalar and Ethyeria, they were met with fierce resistance. When diplomacy failed, they used their next method and tried to economically suffocate the nations. Little did they realize, though, that this would push them to their rivals.
Yedians are typically of dark complexion, owed to their desert origins, though a small subsection that lived in a very mountainous region called Aflethina are notably quite pale. Wealth and status are high valued, with a firm belief that anyone can rise to greatness through smart business practices and hard work. Some believe, though, that this might just be a means of giving the lower class some level of hope, as the truth of the matter is that the disparity between the wealthy and poor is staggeringly immense.   The Tazan people are often the most extremely wealthy, serving as a sort of noble ruling class in the Union. They have always been, and likely always shall be the most wealthy of the group. Extravagance and status are of great import, more-so than the other groups, and they often have great love of any opportunity they have to flaunt it.   Sarandians are a tough and militaristic people, operating as the sword-arm of the union. They are almost always seeking to improve their military technologies in some way, and much of their economy remains fueled by it to this day. The Tazan overlords are ever-happy to supply them with the resources needed to conquer new lands, but remain ever wary of the group, remembering well how they once commanded a great empire and being suspicious of their possible ambitions. The soldiers of Sarandia often decorate their helmets and shoulder guards with skull-imagery, dedicated to the Godface of Savas, one of the many faces of their deity Yedirolan that emphasizes death, war, and the desert.   The people of Halith are the laborers of the Union. Rugged molemen, they are brilliant laborers that are particularly skilled in the mining industry. Halithians often are the ones filling factories, producing goods for the rest of the Union. Much of their architecture is focused on integrating into the underground with inverted spires that dig deep into the earth and support large communities while needing little space. Given the nature of their work, Halithians are typically very community-oriented, taking care of not just oneself but also your neighbors, as each of you work hard together and form bonds akin to family through the shared efforts. Unfortunately, the people from Halith are incredibly exploited by the Tazan, and many chafe under increasingly shrinking wages and rising prices of goods.   Those originating from Aflethina are strange in more ways than one. Unlike the others in the Union, they do not come from the desert, but instead a land of high mountains and low valleys. Pale skinned with dark hair, they are an incredibly spiritual people that focus upon peace, balance, and a philosophical concept they refer to as "The Way." Masters of magic and martial arts, they provide some of the few supernatural elements within the Union in exchange for goods and services from the rest. However, the sudden forcing of modernization has shaken the culture heavily, and many long to escape from the chaos of modern life, hoping to return to the serenity of their isolated mountain homes.
Yedian technology is generally based upon solar energy, and generally at least tries to appear to be luxurious, even if it might be quite cheaply made in truth. Black or white with gold accessory parts or trimming is the most common pallet one can expect to see. Artistically, things are often made with a very angular design, imitating solar panels if the item uses batteries or being cleverly integrated paneling otherwise.
