The Federation

The Imotaiyo Federation is a galaxy-spanning government from the planet of I'ltoanl born from selfish conflict. In the past, the homeworld was driven into a worldwide conflict as the planet's natural resources began rapidly drying up from years of reckless exploitation. Three nations, though, had the foresight and resources to properly prepare for when fossil fuels would run completely dry: Tazan, Kaori, and Brantyl. The trio each built massive space elevators, allowing them to continue powering their nations through an immense amount of solar power generated by the planet's twin suns: Taiyo and Hikari. For all other nations, though, their options quickly began to run out as they either were forced to join one of the rapidly-growing empires or be left behind to quickly fall apart as they would become cut off from vital resources required to function.   By 3794 K.U., the homeworld was completely divided up into the Yedian Union, Northern Suns Federation, and I'lix Coalition. The divided planet was at peace, as the resource crisis was averted for a time, but tensions remained as it was clear each empire was preparing for conflict and simply waiting for a reason to fight. At the same time, a heroic organization from the Northern Suns Federation known as Legacy broke off from its ties, retreating to an orbital base to try and act as peacekeepers and mediators to prevent global conflict. Despite their best efforts, though, a mercenary company known as Libraccio performed an assassination on the president of the Yedian Union, and the world was plunged into a conflict that would become known as the Solar Wars.   For seven years the conflict raged until Legacy, through use of its immense powerful members, managed to bring an end to the war. From the ashes of this conflict emerged the new Imotaiyo Federation, a united world government with Legacy becoming the new Defenders of the Federation. Unified together under a single banner, the Federation began to focus more heavily on advancing as a society and colonization of other worlds while the members of Legacy fought to maintain order and drive back forces that would threaten the fledgling Federation.   Though united, the Imotaiyo Federation still bears lingering wounds from its old world. Corporations retain immense power that seems to only grow by the day as the Federation expands, and much of the cultural rivalries between the old empires still remains, often causing divisions and fractures in an otherwise united government.
