Krogs (Kroh-gs)

A species native to the Alharan side of Jana discovered by the first wave of settlers. Made entirely out of animated rock, the Krogs require neither food nor water to thrive, instead only needing to feed off of minerals in the rock formations they live in. These formations are known as Quarries which are interconnected through natural cave networks in the rocky mountains similar to ant colonies, providing safe and quick travel between each Quarry. Krogs are talented architects well known for their stone masonry and carving exotic looking homes out of rock formations. They do not use any tools, rather they use their fists as hammers, course fingers as chisels, and they possess a keen precision in terms of balance and symmetry. Krogs also work in creating furniture made out of stone which has been a rising popularity as a novelty item among the locals. Whenever Krogs do trade in sharing their wares and minerals, they often purchase rugs, curtains, or other items to decorate their stone huts. They are usually direct in their conversations, often voicing their inner thoughts or opinions of others right in front of them, which can come across as odd or awkward for people outside of their tribe.   Krogs often venture out of their Quarries to hunt for Molduga, in which they would bring back its scales and monster parts to craft exotic weapons, armor, or hut decorations. Such possessions are regarded as status symbols within their society, to the point where the one with the most becomes the chieftain of their Quarry. Any travelers who have survived a Molduga attack are given a level of respect by the Krogs - regardless of any animosity held towards them, if any exists - as they believe fighting such a beast takes courage, wit, and luck to beat it.   Due to their mysterious origins the Krogs have become a popular topic of study and research, particularly in the magical community. It is common for professors or students on and off-world of Jana to come and visit the more friendlier Krog groups to study them, sometimes living near them as if they were an archaeological site.
