Colonel Mira La Fay

Life

Born on the core world of I'ltoanl on the icy shores of Klaska Cove, Kanata. She grew up on her family's fish farm and learned how to tend to net pens in the middle of the ocean. Her hometown taught her many things: fishing, kayaking, swimming, hunting, to even identifying every aquatic life on sea and freshwater, and earned her degree in Marine and Ocean studies. Mira eventually joined the Federation Military Academy to become a sailor, however many instructors and officers all saw her keen and perceptive talent and good hand-eye coordination. By chance she ended up joining the Airspace Force. After years of building up her reputation as a talented fighter pilot, she graduated as Squadron Leader to lead her own flight unit. Her life however, turned upside when she was transferred into space, the real battlefield.

Federation Days

Mira had been on many missions that made her question the moral, ethics, as well as their tactical decisions. Often she was forced to take actions that involved putting civilians in danger, indirectly or directly, all under the pretense it was for the greater good or many more would die. After every battle she would review the mission in her mind, and bring up possible solutions to avoid repeating her tragedy. Either it fell on deaf ears or she would receive suspension for a couple of weeks. The straw that broke the camels back was when she had to launch a strike on a building, intel suggesting terrorists were hiding inside. Turned out it was the hidden base of anti-Federation protestors and resistance fights, with old and young. Mira quit the Federation since then, but couldn't go back home to face her family so she wandered from one planet to colony after another.

Rebellion

By chance, a member of the Lionheart rebels heard about her and sought her out. After many encounters, she was finally persuaded to lend her skill and talents to the cause, to fight for true freedom and to remove the Federation. She worked hard to redeem herself, climbing all the way to Colonel and leading her forces on foot. Although she had been given opportunities to go higher in her rank, she reserved herself to strictly Colonel as she developed a strong emotional attachment to her men and women and being in the field along with them.

Expand

During her days as a Federation Pilot, Mira and her team was shot down and crashed landed in behind enemy lines. Either her squadron mates were executed or captured, she struggled to stay alive. The mental and physical stress she endured caused a trigger in her mind, that unlocked her new ability as an Expand entity. The Expand takes the form of little jet planes that fly around her, no bigger than her hand. They have the ability to act as her eyes to scout at extreme distance, track her enemy movements, as well as being able to shoot at anyone who tries to attack her. After rescuing her surviving squadrons, she kept it a secret from her peers and superiors, not sure what to do, but she does sneak chances to use her powers to give her an edge in combat. Since she was recruited to the Rebellion, she had been more open in revealing her ability and using it to her advantage to lead her forces in various campaigns. She calls it Wild Blue Yonder.
