Dragonsbane
Dragonsbane is a rare plant found growing in high altitude places, often in the coldest regions. It is primarily used to brew potions to stave off the effects of Dragonblight, however alone it cannot cure the condition. Dragonsbane has a secondary use, however, as the seeds of the plant contain a potent chemical that is extremely toxic to dragonkin, it was used to make a poison in a long forgotten war with dragons to turn the tide in favour of the mortal races.
Despite sharing a similar name with Wolfsbane, Dragonsbane is not related at all to the Ranunculaceae family of plants, and is more closely related to the Solanaceae family, the nightshades. When flowering, Dragonsbane has a bright red flamelike petal, and the flower itself consists of 5 of these, that spiral out from the centre of the flower.
Despite growing in cold climates, it is said that the flower radiates warmth when flowering, travelers who visit places that dragonsbane is native to often describe the warmth of the plant saving their lives on a particularly cold night, and those who travel to harvest this plant often use this warmth as a way to locate the plant. The warmth this plant radiates, however, dissipates almost immediately when harvested, and despite the best efforts of many people in the past, seeds harvested from these plants refuse to grow in artificial conditions, making the plant extremely rare, and it's effects difficult to replicate.
Many have speculated that unlike traditional nightshades, this plant is actually attuned to aethiric flow, and that this is why it emits warmth, and also why it refuses to grow outside of it's natural regions, even when the natural climate is replicated perfectly, however due to the large amount of equipment needed to monitor aether, and the relatively difficult locales that the plant is native to, none have managed to confirm this theory.
