Terrakin

The children of the mountains found hearth and home in the majestic mountains of Urth, living above and below in their mighty roots. Over time, the terrakin found the strength of the mountains made them unswerving, unyielding, unbending in the face of their opposition. Within terrakin culture, there is much ritual and importance to the practice of a Stand. A child of the mountains considers a Stand to be a manifestation of their body, their conviction, and their very spirit. Generally, the first Stand that a terrakin makes is with their family, before the mountain which is the symbol of their people, standing true and tall for all to see. Abandoning a Stand is generally a defeat of significance and shame among the children of the mountains. Defeat is no shame, for all things eventually fall, even the mountains themselves, yet others rise to take their place. Breaking faith, breaking your word, breaking promises, breaking bonds, these are the stuff of eternal shame. It is said that the strength of the Stands made by the terrakin to the mountains shore both the mountain and the dwarf against the forces arrayed against them. Tales are told of how the stands of terrakin held the walls against overwhelming sieges.   The crafting of armor is a special source of pride among the terrakin people. It is said that the mark of a terrakin master smith is seen as a type of Stand and that such a gift is without measure.   Since the Bladeban, the children of the mountains turned to the use of the hammer as a favored weapon of war.
