The Sunburst Guard are the Summer response to the need for a standing army. It is widely considered as the greatest of the fighting forces of the Fae, and is certainly the largest of the Fae fighting forces. The Sunburst Guard are well equipped, well trained, and have served as the model for the rest of the Realms forces.
Organization
The Sunburst Guard are configured into four Divisions: the Army, the Calvary, Logistics, and Engineering. Each Division is made up of a number of Legions. Each Legion is further broken down into Battalions, which are broken down into Platoons, and finally Squadrons. Each Division is commanded by a Sun General who answer directly to the Summer King. Legions are commanded by Legates, Battalions commanded by Brigadiers, Platoons commanded by Majors, and finally Squadrons are commanded by Captains. The number of ways each Division is broken up is unique to each Division driven by need, staffing, and service type.
The Army
When one thinks of the Sunburst Guard this is what most are imagining. Legions of troops glistening in Summer-forged armor, wielding gleaming weapons, and standing tall. The Army are composed of a number of specialized roles. There are the heavy infantry decked out in magic-infused brass and copper plate armor whose purpose is to serve as shock troops. There are skirmishers that wear very light leathers and utilize fast movement and ranged weapons to harry the enemy. There are archers and standard troops as well, the former wielding long ranged bows in light armor with the latter decked out in heavier scale mail, shields, and spears.
Calvary
Fast response is the key for the Sunburst Cavalry. They utilize mounts of all types, though specifically ground-based mounts. They utilize a number of types from horses, scaly residents of the Summer jungles, and even some vehicles such as chariots to accomplish their primary mission of striking hard, fast, and making an opening for the rest of the Guard. Depending on the mission they utilize a number of weapons and armor like bows, spears, lances, swords, and shields.
Logistics
The number one reason that the Sunburst Guard is considered the greatest fighting force available for the Fae is their ability to execute supply chains. An army of billions is pointless if you cannot feed, house, arm, and care for it. The Logistics Division of the Sunburst Guard has proven their ability, time and again, to effectively provide needed supplies for the Guard wherever they go. The Logistics Division also encompasses the medical regiments of the Guard, allowing them to care for their troops as necessary.
Engineering
The final Division of the Sunburst Guard is the Engineering Corps. Building fortifications, war machines, and forward operating bases in hostile territory are all specialties of this small, but effective part of the Sunburst Guard. Fae explosives are responsibility of the Engineering Division, both the creation and usage of it, along with disposal.
