Resource overview

Since diversity is part of the world in which Realms is set, we encourage those who wish to be part of that world to learn more about some of the more common themes that are encountered while roleplaying. Below are some resources which can be used as guides or starting points.

Polyamory

Culturally most fae are some form of non-monogamous, though how that works for each character is very different. Due to their long lives it's commonly accepted that love can grow in unexpected places, and there is a lot of weight placed on community, friendship and bonds of connection that might not always look like how humans approach relationships.   Given the nature of roleplay and of real life, polyamory is something that has been incorporated into Realms as a way to allow players and characters to shift their stories when needed to accomodate the absence of another player character without necessarily needing to 'write off' that relationship. This doesn't mean all characters/players are polyamorous in game or in real life. Players can always choose to have their characters be monogamous and will never be excluded for that choice.   Some resources that can help if you are new to the concept of ethical non-monogamy/polyamory are listed to the right.

Sexuality

Since Realms is home to a wide variety of creatures and races, characters can and will encounter non-humans, part humans, trans, non binary, multi gender, agender and more beings. Again, players are not required to make their character any particular sexuality and no one will be denied or excluded for their sexuality. While heterosexuality is accepted among the fae it is not the default unlike with most human society.
