On Exile
Exile is never a light thing for fae, to be away from the realms for an extended period of time often leaves a fae full of so profound a yearning that for some it might trigger fading. It is typically only very powerful, or very stubborn, fae that willingly go into exile, removing themselves from the Courts for their own reasons. The most famous of those in self exile is Horus, the First Blade, who has chosen that path for over three thousand years.
To be ordered into exile is a fate worse than death for most faeborn.
Fae value life above all else, and guard it fiercely so execution is incredibly rare. Exile is then the most extreme punishment when handed down by the faerie regents. If charges are brought of a violation of the Code, grave misdeeds proven, the four rulers will decide on exile, though the ruler of the Court the fae is from will be the one to hand down the sentence. The Cauldron is brought forth, and the ruler of that Court revokes the bonds that tie the fae to the power of it’s throne; each ruler in turn revokes any bond to their Courts as well, stripping the faerie of the ability to be nourished by the faerie realms, or to walk within them. Their powers, tied to faerie, are therefore diminished, a flicker of what they once were. Their court powers are removed entirely.
