Group Scenes Overview
There are two primary kinds of group scenes that are found in Realms. While both players and Regents can come up with ideas for group scenes, with an open call for people to join them, Regent-run group scenes are typically part of major plot storylines and given their own location and scene designation.
Player Run
For player-run group scenes there is a designated section in the forum, the Plot Board thread. Group scene requests posted here are not meant to be run by a Regent and they should take place in a location thread that matches the event being held, rather than having its own thread. While the hope is that scenes like these are open to any players, the player who sets up the scene has the right to decline a request to join. If interested in joining a group scene, please make sure to reach out to the player setting it up, prior to joining. Any scene that has wide impacts upon the world or lore should be run past the mods first (i.e., making discoveries about voidborn). This is because it could have an impact on the overall wide scale plot being developed across the entire forum. Sometimes the mods may ask you to not move forward with an idea or may have some feedback and tweaks, sometimes they may ask if they can assist because it moves a certain storypoint forward. Please don't be afraid to share your ideas, you never know what might be in store in the future of Realms that you might be able to help shape! Examples of keywords that might mean to run an idea by the mods first:- Voidborn
- Character/NPC death
- Heavy destruction (a building collapse is a big deal, even if it's a personal home)
Regent Run
These scenes fall into two categories:- General Events (faerie holidays or events)
- Plot Events
Expectations
With the small, story focused scenes either run by a player or Regent there are some best practicies that are encouraged for all players to adopt.- Unless stated otherwise these groups are turn based and should follow an order to permit everyone to respond
- The goal is to reply within a week to keep the scene moving
- If a player is not able to post within that week they should let the rest of the group know as soon as possible so the next person can go.
- If the player doesn't respond two turns in a row they acknowledge that their character might need to be moved by another writer to be out of the action
- Players all engage in good faith to work together
