Keruznikal Creation Myth

In the beginning, there were two primordial entities, Eon and Era. Eon represented order and light, while Era represented chaos and entropy. While neither inherently good nor evil and entirely mindless, both swirled through the void endlessly before time as we know it began. Eventually, they grew close and gravitational convergence pulled them together. From their joining, a ripple was created. This ripple set shards of both flying into the void, where they coalesced and created what we know as the Outer Planes. The Material Plane was created by this merge, and the ripples created the ground with its varied elevation. As the two forces clashed, their struggle to separate sent pure shards of magic into the void near to the newly created Material Plane. These quickly formed what we call 'gods,' bound to the aspect from which they were created, reservoirs of pure energy. In those times, their energy flowed freely to the Plane and created the life we know today.   After the gods came the gods of the giants. While technically mortal beings, the giant gods were creatures of immense and pure elemental essence, capable of shifting the landscape to fit their whims. They shaped some of the greater shards of primordial essence into their likeness, thus forming the various races of Giants and their kin. Simultaneously, the first dragons were born into existence. The dragons formed from grand shards of elemental power and were the first of the early races to learn to harness this power in the form we would call 'magic.' In those early days before their souls weakened as they expended their power, the first dragons, in their pride and arrogance, created the dragonborn to worship and serve them as physical gods. The dragonborn in those times were more powerful, and created the kobolds to serve them as they dedicated their lives to the worship of their dragon-gods.   Next came the Elder Races - the elves and dwarves. Both had powerful souls and an innate strength in magic, and settled great empires in the following millennia. Through the years, they fought, and eventually the dwarves vanished from recorded history, though some of their ruins still stand to this day.   Finally, the lesser fey and the races of man emerged, formed by some unknown source. Many believe that Eon chose to create them, but in truth, none know if it was a primordial, a god, or just happenstance.   Eon and Era eventually settled. Their forms solidified and created our Plane, and their energies merged to form what we now know as the 'Aura.' The nature of the Aura is a topic for another day, but it is neither light nor dark; it simply is.
