Age of Shadows

In a world of enlightenment, many of the malevolent lost thier power as hunger and rage was quelled. But in a world with great wealth gives way for envy. While the benevolent tried to quell the other emotions, envy was silent and slowly built up. Eventually Xerxes attained enough power to travel through the planes to the material again, where he landed into the Shadow Fell. There he allowed himself to imbue every being their with his power, creating the Wraiths and the Wraith Lord. His new followers then began breaking into the material plane. They first emerged in the underdark, where they easily slaughtered and drove the people there from their lands. The Wraiths imbued the corpses with vengeance and amassed an army. They laid siege to the surface world and almost completely wiped out the beings there, it was only when The Legion of the Dead, helped by Ulthagyr, consumed a Wraith's heart and gained the power to destroy the Wraith Lord.
