Void Crawler

Overview: The void crawler is an odd being. It crawls around in the dark with the ears of a bat and no eyes. Two large pincers come forth from just under the ears to poke and prod, doubling as antennae. Chitinous plates run down the long body, covering the head. From just under the last plate escapes a thin tail, which it seems to use for balance. But it's nonsensical legs grasp nothingness like a cliff-face wherever it goes. And it's tongue can unravel out like a chameleon's to whip the darkness with it's little hairs. And finally, comes a most curious of features. A horn seems to jut from the back of the beast. Around the end this horn curves around a suspended sphere, which changes color. It has been shown to denote mood and is theorized to be their method of communication. None have been able to decipher how they manage to perform this act of information intake.   Diet: The void crawlers seem to walk around in near-Void dimensions, filtering for the limited resources available in the atmosphere. They will spend much of their time looking for new collections of atmospheric resources. Coincidentally, this means they often make their way towards dimensional barriers, visible and invisible. A useful tidbit for dimensional travelers.   Communication: As stated in the overview, the crawlers have a horn surrounding a glowing ball of light. This light seems to be their primary source of expression. But they also will flash randomly, after which the collective group they surround themselves with will seem to come to a conclusion. If not, this, "light show", will begin elsewhere within the group. Then the others around them will seem to begin mirroring the color changes taking place between them. Unless a resolution comes immediately, the collection will begin a scuttling scramble until resolution. This process is known to sometimes take days or months.
Emotional Colors Coordination: Some of the horns colors have been seen to coordinate with concepts. The colors which denote known ideas can be referred to below.   Red - Violent or destructive intent. Such as wanting to attack a predator. Or a researcher. Orange - Passivity. Being nonchalant and waiting. Blue - Not really a hard idea here. But this color is often observed before they migrate. Purple - Misunderstanding, rejection, or disgust. Assumed to be this as most of a herd will create a purple glow before they join a scramble.
