Casters
General Assumptions of the casting, "Classes".
Below are specific examples of those we call, "casters". Which are beings who manipulate existence using principles of science or magic. On the elsewhere are some further discussion of their classification than was present on the A Guide to Reality Manipulation page.
Artificers: Type- Learned A somewhat rare approach to magic. An artificer is a kind of spellcaster who treats his casting as something between an art and a science. Stranger still, the artificer adds an element of automation to some of their casting. Relying on tools and their own knowledge of how the elements at play work. Casting in such a way as an artificer can be tricky and if the logic is not as they thought, their magic is unlikely to turn out. Chaos is often the downfall to an artificers spellcasting. However, like the wizard, if the plane they are on is ordered similarly enough to the material plane, their planning and automation is unlikely to fail.
Bards: Type- Learned/Natural Rarely there exists a musician who creates magical effects through their songs. These individuals, while having innate magic properties, are unable to channel these abilities on their own due to a lack of regularity in the energy produced which is required to create these effects. By harnessing the regularity present in music which comes from tuning and the like, the magic energy available for them to access can be relayed through the instrument. Each instrument requires a different learning ability and a bard can only harness music's power to regulate waves of magic energy if they can operate an instrument effectively. Thus it is understood that bards may hold their magic inside but never know of their power through any part of their life. Bards can create some effects in a manner similar to a wizard, through study and muscle memory but likely will utilize singing to create that regularity. It is also theorized that bards may be able to use non-instrument items to facilitate this requirement for regularity.
Clerics: Type-Patron The spellcaster known as a cleric serves under a patron after years of religious preparation. The magic they harness is signified by practices often considered religious towards the patron they serve. These religious portions are sometimes confused for a learned portion, but most experts agree that as a cleric is given permission to identify targets for the patron to attack and others can perform the same ritual in a religious connotation as well, that clerics are purely of the patron type. Mortals who choose to be clerics do not take the magic of their god upon them. Instead they only identify targets and positions for a patron to attack on their own. If a cleric is disconnected from their deity, they must instead rely on their own prowess and abilities. Clerics who wish to travel the multiverse must prepare for such eventualities. If a cleric transgresses their patron they must repent similarly to a paladin in order to regain their patrons trust and allow them to once again identify targets for the magical energies.
Druids: Type-Natural/Learned Druids hold a natural affinity towards magical awareness in the wild. By Observing how energy and matter is transferred in natural settings, they learned how to create magical effects of their own. Their enhanced ability to observe natural magic transfer allows for druids to learn from a patron. Note that while a druid can learn from these beings, they are usually unable handle said power as those of the Patron type do.
Monks: Type- Learned/Natural There exists monasteries and schools which teach how to regulate the soul and mind. Monks are the students which accomplish these challenges and gain the ability to regulate their soul energy to perform magic feats. This requires extreme mental, emotional, and physical control over one's body, thus preventing many from learning such skills. As a byproduct of using their soul as a source of energy, monks must take breaks and meditate in order to regain their power.
Paladins: Type-Patron/Natural Those who hold the mantle of paladin serve under a deity and claim their magic through service towards their patron. Were it not for the deity, they would be unable to cast any magic at all. When a paladin creates an Oath with a god, the being entrusts their power upon the individual and allows the servant to claim a portion of their power which is released once more unto the patron whenever the paladin's soul energy is extinguished. Should a paladin have his or her soul destroyed and then revived, the magic from the patron may return but the specifics of this event have yet to be discovered or disclosed. Should a paladin break their oath and not perform a sort of ritual as, "repentance", they risk the chance of losing their power or mutating their magic into that of, "The Oathbreaker". Paladins can hold their patrons magic and thus can carry their patron's energy through physical dimensions but can't recharge outside of their patron's magic presence.
Rangers: Type-Learned/Natural Some who regularly interact with nature can attain druid-like powers even without the capacity to see magic moving through an environment. These individuals are known as rangers and gain their power exactly like a druid except that they don't have the capabilities required to learn from deities nor can they ever attain the same level of magic ability by this method of study. They instead rely more heavily upon their physical capabilities to defend the wild which they love.
Sorcerers: Type- Natural/Learned While Sorcerers can benefit from study and may be considered by some to have connections with a patron, they are defined by their natural ability to harness the energy around them in calories, material bonds, and other sources in order to apply their will upon the world around them via magic. The only study a Sorcerer requires is that which allows the sorcerer to extend their magic outwards. Similar to monks, this requires concentration from their mind in order to achieve their magic and akin to bards, a sorcerer must learn of their magic ability in order to create their effects. Unlike these two however, a sorcerer gains their magic through a genetic relationship with a strong magic being and a sorcerer may accidentally call upon their own reserve of magic.
Warlocks: Type- Learned/Patron Warlocks are distinguished from other spellcasters due to their association with their patrons. While at first appearing to be the cleric or paladin, a warlock is usually bound to service by some form of contract and will instead be physically punished, if not otherwise, for any transgressions or failures out of line with their patrons desires. There is also the chance that a patron may create a warlock by accidental means and not notice the power being drained for the warlock's use. But every warlock must actively study, although not as much as wizards, in order to correctly harness a patron's power. As a result most patrons teach their servants in the use of their abilities much like a druid can learn from gods of nature. And like the cleric, a warlock must actively be in the magic presence of their deity in order to use their power effectively but unlike their holy counterparts, warlocks are taught by their patrons to utilize power from within themselves similar to the training sorcerers or monks undergo. Warlocks are extremely unique amongst casters for these reasons but are also known for their ability to quickly and effectively regain power from those they serve.
Wizards: Type- Learned Any spellcaster who learns magic through only their own study and hard work is considered to be a wizard. The difference between wizards and other Learned type spellcasters is that the wizard has no natural or patron gained abilities. Instead these spellcasters use their vast intellect and knowledge of arcane lore in order to facilitate their requirements for casting. A wizard is heavily reliant on notes and other aid in order to enact magical effects. While other casters still use arcane foci and components, a wizard is more reliant on these sorts of items to facilitate their magical requests. Wizards, however, are one of the most consistent in casting ability between dimensions as they rely more heavily on reactions common amongst the known material planes.
Paladins, Clerics and Others with Patrons: These casters gain their power through a patron who deems them worthy based on criteria such as legends, prophecies, and personal attributes among others. This magic can be iffy amongst dimensions but for the most part are just as powerful in any dimension. But just as a patron's power can be lessened between dimensions, it can be strengthened by walking into others. This is dependent on how much a patron can affect the caster and the dimension they currently are in.

Sorcerers, Patrons, and Creatures with Natural Magic Ability: Creatures with innate magical properties are capable of creating magic through natural processes of their form. A sorcerer may expend calories or transform matter around them in order to satisfy their desires. They can interact on a personal level with the stuff of the Multiverse and are very consistent in their spellcasting. In order for their magic to be affected, there must be a generic magical dampener or strengthener which would also affect their allies. As a negative however, natural casters are highly unable to change what they can accomplish with their magic as their casting is the closest to a form of muscle memory compared to others.
Wizards, Bards, and Others who Create Magic by Study: This group grows their magic ability through study with the world around them and the properties found within. These casters are extremely similar to those with natural abilities but have increased levels of study in order to affect their surroundings. The way they gain knowledge is akin to creating a sort of habit out of casting which interacts with the matter and energy around them. While they need more investigation than natural casters to create their spells and effectively perform them, they are more able to choose their abilities than others. They can more ably apply their magic to unfamiliar spells and curses than any other classes.
