Null Expanse Theta-7

The Null Expanse Theta‑7, known more widely as Stillmere, is a vast and starless region of space. It borders the outer routes of the Saphrax Trade Corridor and stretches into the upper quadrants of the Densari Reach. This place is one of the most mysterious and feared anomalies in the known galaxy, not because of what it contains, but because of what it lacks.
There are no stars within Theta‑7. No rogue planets, moons, or even detectable dust. It offers no radiation signature, no gravitational pattern that makes sense. Light itself seems to vanish at its perimeter, and sensors fail without explanation. The closer a ship gets, the quieter the instruments become. Some crews report strange readings on chronometers, with time behaving unpredictably. These anomalies are often blamed on software interference, but not everyone is convinced.
Despite being located at a potential nexus point between heavily trafficked planets, almost no one attempts to cross it. Pilots and merchants detour around the region without complaint, even when it adds significant time to their journey. Ships that ignore the warning signs often vanish. A few fragments have been recovered over the years, floating out from the expanse like bones cast up by the sea.
Officially, the Galactic Alliance classifies Theta-7 as an Uncharted Gravitational Anomaly. Access is restricted to scientific missions with full oversight and clearance, though even those are few. There are stories of rogue captains who slipped through and emerged on the other side, but no verifiable accounts exist. Some believe these are only myths used to sell ghost stories in dockside bars.
Theories abound. Some whisper of ancient weapons. Others believe the Expanse is a natural rift in reality. A few say it is not empty at all, only waiting.

Stillmere is a place people are not supposed to go. Most don't.

"Sure, I knew a pilot who made it through. He called it a shortcut. Too bad he was talkin' to himself when we found him."
