Ynngriar (The Creation)

Belief systems vary greatly throughout the Radiant Nexus, as they do in such a large and geographically varying land. One such belief system is the Ynngriar. Although this "myth" is much more wide-spread than most others. With the humans, many elves and some other races of the Northern portion of the Radiant Nexus taking this as their creation story. Of course there are many variations of this story, but that is to be expected.

Summary

At the dawn of time, when the Radiant Nexus was naught but a barren waste, an ancient primordial being watched awoke from the First Slumber, finding himself floating aimlessly in a sea of stars. This being found these stars a sight to behold, but the yearning for something more pulled at him. With his great power he took this sea of stars and began to forge them into a great wheel. He surrounded this wheel in two shrouds. These shrouds acted as a protection from the things beyond the sea of stars. One shroud of light, beauty and love, this he named the Positive Plane. One shroud of darkness, sorrow and shadow, this he named the Negative Plane. Deep within these shrouds the being crafted sixteen planes, each a representation of the being's internal nature. These planes where merely the outer layer, however. Further in this wheel, he made another great shroud, one of immense elemental energy, the Elemental Chaos. This shroud was merely a taste of the true elemental power that lay within, a ring split into four pieces, each a representation of the different elemental powers that this being had experienced (Air, Water, Fire and Earth). And at the very center of the beings great wheel, he placed a great spherical expanse, the Prime Material Realm, which he named the Radiant Nexus for the brilliant web it weaved within this Great Wheel. Finally, he created two integral planes that would represent alternative aspects of the Radiant Nexus, the Shadowfell and the Feywilds, these were two sides of the same coin, one of great beauty, the other of great sorrow. And when this being, which histroy would go on to name the Creator, looked upon his Planes of Existence and saw that his work was done, he closed his eyes, and fused his essence into the Great Wheel in order to breath life into his creation.   Upon the Radiant Nexus, the Prime Material Realm of this Great Wheel, the first beings woke from the Second Slumber. The beings that woke from the earth where all ancestors of the many different creatures that inhabit the world in the present day and they all had an integral role in shaping the Radiant Nexus, whether they are still alive to this day or not. These Primordials (as many know them now) where as follows:
  • Annam the All-Father (Father of all Giants)
  • Asgorath the World Serpent (Father of all Draconids)
  • Lathander the Morninglord (Father of all Mankind)
  • Gruumsh the Unblinking (Father of all Orc-kind)
  • Maglubiyet the Fiery-Eyed (Father of all Goblinoids)
  • Yondalla the Matriarch (Mother of all Halflings)
  • Moradin the Soul-Forger (Father of all Dwarf-kind)
  • Laogzed the Great Toad (Mother of all Lizardmen)
  • Thothra the Eternal (Mother of all Bird-kind)
  • Erek-Hus the Titan (Father of all Beasts and Monsters)
From the Second Slumber until the Ascension (where the remaining Primordials achieved god-hood ascended to the Outer Realms), the Primordials began their work shaping the world and forging their people, picking out the homes for their people. This in turn bred conflict between the Primordials and their creations, leaving some to become the dominant race (these being the Dragons and the Giants) and others kept at very fringes of the world.
