The Marcher Kingdoms
For thousands of years the Kings of the Northern March have stood at border of the civilization, watching, waiting for any sign of attack. The Ling Wei have been a thorn in the side of northern kingdoms ever since Gadric Stormsword settled his people in the north in the aftermath of the Battle of the Necropolis. Sometimes the thorn leads to a lethal infection, and when this happens the Marcher Kingdoms are there to shield the north from the barbarous nomads. However, since the rise of the Empire of Coraxia the Kingdoms have been disbabanded, with Emperor Anduin-Piere I seeing it as an unnecessary relic of the past.
Structure
The Marcher Kingdoms is a loosely tied organisation made up of many different small, military kingdoms. The lords of these kingdoms form one great council that keeps the peace and makes diplomatic ties. Each king owns one or several castles populated mostly by knights and other soldiers, each castle is surrounded by vast fields and farms, tended to by locals which provides food for the lord and his army. A king or queen is decided by an election made by the most influential and highest ranking knights within the kingdom, and once elected they serve for life.
