Ling Wei (Frosted Men)

In the far north of the Radiant Nexus live the Ling Wei (or the Frosted Men as they are known by most). A culture of resilient, battle-hardened warriors, the Ling Wei are feared by most and respected by all. Cities that lay in there path often pay expensive tithes to them in fear that they may invade their lands, salt their fields and raise their cities. It is a great relief to most that the Ling Wei are an united people, split into many warring clans; though this has not always been so, it is about time that a new Warlord rises to unite the Ling Wei for decades of glorious conquest.

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

The Ling Wei are a race of warmongers. War is their way of life, and they have great respect for any nation that dare to face them on the field of battle. They also have a high sense of honour, they will not disrespect those that fight. They typically do not raise cities or salt fields, but they will show no mercy to those that do not give them the honour of a good fight.

Ideals

Gender Ideals

When a girl is born in Ling Wei culture it is said that the gods have smiled upon the clan. Women are seen as the heat of Ling Wei society, they run the clan when the men are at war. Women make up the majority of a clan's shaman and are the main advisors for their Chieftain. They, however, are not permitted to take part in war, partly because they are seen as physically weaker than males, but mostly because they have such a vital war in domestic life as they are the ones that are educated in clan history and clan management.   Males are the warriors of Ling Wei society, they are bred for warfare and combat. They are not educated in any way except for tactics and warfare. Only when a male is exceptionally intelligent or wise will they be given an opportunity to prove themselves worthy of a position as a shaman and advisor.

Relationship Ideals

Ling Wei marry for life. They are completely monogamous and adultery is seen as a sin worthy of banishment. Before a man heads off for his first battle he is expected to find a mate from the women of the clan. In order to woe a potential mate, he will head off into the wilderness, slay the biggest beast he can, and return with its head. The women will then selectively chose the male they believe to be most worthy of their hand in marriage. The night before the battle the pair will sleep together and thus be considered in wedlock. If a man is unable to acquire a mate he will attempt to find one on the war campaign.
