Espers

Espers are a form of instinct cultivation that allow one to develop psychic powers. One can be born an esper, or they can train to become one. In some cases, human experimentation or certain traumatic experiences with the supernatural can allow one to manifest psychic powers. These psychic abilities are often linked to the human brain, with a particular focus on the development of awareness and cognitive abilities. The psychic abilities that manifest by becoming an esper can vary from minor cognitive abilities to supernatural powers.

There is little to no understanding on how one is naturally born with psychic abilities, although children with one or more parents who have developed psyshic abilities are more likely to be born with them. The cultivation of psychic abilities through instinct is rare, but not unheard of. The development of psychic abilities is also possible through traumatic experiences with the supernatural, especially with ghosts. Lastly, there are (mysterious) means of forcing psychic abilities onto others. These capabilities have been attained through psychic research, with certain underground organizations such as Cerebro highly interested in them.
