Sniffer
A Sniffer is one who can find or sense things. Much like a bloodhound, most of them can sense anything they have encountered, including a distinct feeling associated with the Unseelie. Some have very strong, but specific sensing for certain materials or people.
MAGE owes much of its success in finding and recruiting Magecrafters over the last few hundred years to the fact that they have managed to find Sniffers who can sniff out Magecrafters, specifically. The first Magecrafter assigned to the newly-created MAGUS, after Tianna Udovin, a Timesinker, was a Sniffer named Lottie.
While specific sensing is rare, it can be incredibly useful. Some Sniffers can specifically sense metals, while others can narrow that to gold, tin, iron, etc. This makes it easy for them to act as consultants in the modern world, providing services to industry for a price.

Social Status
Sniffers are seen as reliable and not troublesome. Many consider them very stable, steady, and always willing to work.
History
There are tales within the Magecrafter circles of Sniffers in many historical situations.
One tale claims a Sniffer named Mateo Lopez was assigned to the Santa Maria by Queen Isabella as a condition for sponsoring Columbus's first crossing of the Atlantic. He was indirectly responsible for the invaders' aggression over gold in the New World.
It is believed that Sacagawea was a Sniffer, a Lemhi Shoshone who was sold as a wife and for her craft to a French trapper before embarking on her famous journey with Lewis and Clark.
There is strong evidence supporting the idea that Jean Baptiste Trudeau, a survivor of the infamous Donner Party, was an Unseelie Sniffer who misled the party, possibly due to a conflict over money.
