Siren

A Siren is one who can use a combination of song and specific movements to evoke a growing, cumulative psycho-emotional response. This is often just an extreme manifestation of the "feel" or "vibe" of a performance. However, it can be used to inspire or even direct the audience to certain moods and even actions.

There are many famous riots throughout history, and they are often accompanied by chants or simple songs. When a Siren is involved, there seems little doubt as to why there are explosions of anger and aggression. Fortunately, the ability of a Siren is significantly reduced when recorded and played back.

Because of this and the possibility of abuse of their power, Sirens are watched carefully by MAGE and its daughter organizations. Unseelie Sirens are considered a high-level threat to the free will of the general population and dealt with accordingly.

Sirens can use a Glammourist's powers (with consent) to create visual illusions that increase the impact of the Siren's powers. While extremely rare, many Sirens become folksingers.

Perception

Social Status

Sirens are seen as seductive beings, prone to emotional extremes. This is less an accurate depiction and more a misogynistic approach, as most people consider Sirens to be women or effeminate men. This is not true, though Sirens are drawn to performance arts and the theater.

History

In 44 BCE, during the funeral of Julius Caesar, a Siren and close friend of the emperor, Felix Scipiones Cadmus, began a chant which enraged the citizens into attacking the homes of Brutus and Cassius.

The "Poor Riot" of 1196 BCE in England was encouraged by a Siren friend of William Fitz Osbert.

The 1562 Riots of Toulouse are tentatively linked to a French Opera singer and activist who opposed the interference in politics by the Catholic Church.

In the 1700s, leading up to the Revolutionary War in America, several riots appear to have been started and/or supported by two Sirens who lived in the colonies, Abigail Baker and Constance Truman.
