by touch; if you touch a person festering it, you receive it and the severity and timing depend on how much you get from the person and how bad and what stage the person had. once the person is completely grass/moss, they are no longer contagious.
by air and water; coughing can also spread the bits through the air and can live in still bodies of water for up to a week and moving bodies of water for roughly two days.

Symptoms

coughing then grass and moss grows through every opening in your body and any openings or voids inside the body while paralysing you. after a few seconds to a minute (after the incubation period), you essentially become a grass statue.

Hosts & Carriers

the incubation period can last anywhere from almost a second to several years. about the last 20th fraction of however long you're supposed to have it in total, you will start coughing as the lungs are among the first parts to be taken over (this, along with all other timings relating to the condition is determined by how much of the condition you receive when you first come in contact with it).
