Here are the many Trees of the Mother River Valley

These trees are presented here in a format similar to how the G'ecko of the Stone Age understand them. More information of finer detail will be provided as the G'ecko themselves grow and progress and learn more of their home.

Pari Tree

The Pari tree produces no fruit and is roughly the height of four G'ecko. Its bark is rough and the wood is hard. It has small leaves in rows and thorns. It has white fluffy flowers like the hair of a fuzzy caterpillar and produces grub shaped seed pods.

Yopari Tree

The Yopari tree produces no fruit and is very tall, taller than ten G'ecko! Its bark is rough and darker than the Pari Tree. The wood is hard, good for tools. It has small leaves in rows and more thorns than the Pari Tree. It has bright golden-yellow flowers and produces seeds in pods shaped like a grub.

Æme Tree

The Æme tree produces no fruit and is very tall, taller than ten G'ecko! Its bark is smooth and grey the wood is hard yet flexible. It has large broad blade-shaped leaves in pairs. It has green to red flowers and is good food for kæelæ ösipo Kala grubs.

Döbæ Tree

The Döbæ Tree produces a small orange/red fruit and is very tall, around the same height as the Æme Tree. It provides food for kæelæ ösipo Kala grubs, and the bark can be stripped, soaked and beaten to form cloth for clothes. Its leaves can have many different shapes and there are two kinds of flowers that can be found, though each tree will only have one type of flower. One flower is a light red and like a fuzzy ball, the other is light green and in the shape of a skinny grub. It looses its leaves in the dry season.

Hihe Tree

The Hihe Tree is taller than ten G'ecko and grows very fast and crooked! It has yellow flowers like falling rain and produces a long bean-like fruit. The wood is strong and durable, the flowers are edible, and the fruit can be used for medicine.

Ebeöna Tree

The Ebeöna Tree is a normal to large crooked tree with long leaves and whitish or pinkish flowers. It has a mild fragrence. Its seeds grow in a long flat pod. It sheds its leaves before the dry season.

Akmoi Tree

The Akmoi Tree is a very strange tree. It starts out eating other trees and over time will grow into a very very tall tree! It grows roots from its branches down to the earth, instead of having one big trunk. It grows red fruit and has broad green leaves. It does not drop its leaves. While its fruit is different on the outside, the flesh of the fruit is similar to the Pahæ, Öbara, & Kaloni fruit. All of these fruits rely on a specialized insect for them to fully mature.

Pahæ Tree

The Pahæ tree is a medium sized tree or shrub with large leaves shaped like a hand. It drops its leaves before the dry season, and its bark is smooth and white. It bears a very nice palm-sized green fruit that relies on a special insect to fully mature. This fruit is different on the outside, but the flesh of the fruit is similar to the Akmoi, Öbara, & Kaloni fruit

Öbara Tree

The Öbara tree is a small gnarly tree that grows fast and has rough leaves. It produces a cluster of small red and/or green fruits that like the Akmoi, Pahæ, and Kaloni require an insect to fully mature and while having a different exterior, share a similar flesh.

Kaloni Tree

The Öbara tree is a medium gnarly tree that drops its leaves in the dry season. It produces a a small purple fruit similar to the Akmoi, Pahæ, and Öbara Tree in shape. It also requires an insect to fully mature the fruit.

Koniko Tree

The Koniko tree is a tall tree with smooth brown bark when young, that turns a silver-grey on older branches. It has scattered braod fissures in the bark that are rough compared to the otherwise smooth bark. The leaves are similar in shape to the Hihe tree's leaves, but drop in the dry season after going from green to yellow. The flowers are green and shaped like a grub. The fruit begins as a green ball that as it ripens will burst revealing the actual woody fruit inside of this green ball. The woody fruit is slightly smaller than the G'ecko palm, however the edible part must be extracted out of the woody shell that surrounds it.

Neme Tree

Usually a small sized tree, but sometimes medium, with a fluted trunk. The bark is grey and smooth with occasional wrinkles. The leaves are green and shiny with a pale grey underside with soft hairs. The tree grows very small lightly yellow flowers and a small red fruit that can be easily pulled into three pieces and is covered in a red powder. This powder can be mixed with alcohol to make a red dye for silk.

The Aya is a large green tree with shiny dark green leaves. It has very small red-yellow flowers and grows the largest fruit to be found in the Mother's River Valley! The Aya fruit can be larger tha both of a G'ecko's fists when held together and is mostly green on the outside, sometimes taking on red and yellow colors as well. The fruit is very sweet and fleshy/fibrous and contains a large woody pit in the center.

[oupe] [id]The Oöpæ Tree is a large tree with small thin leaves that are dark green on top and light green on the botton with rough edges. The flowers are small light purple in color and occur in clusters with a noticable fragrance. It has a small toxic fruit that is light yellow or white. The seed inside of the fruit makes a nice bead.[/id ]

The Roi is a many branching tree that does not drop its leaves. It has long then leaves that are smooth, shiny, and dark green on the top and pale green/tan on the botom. The tree is medium sized, though particularly well watered and old trees may get quite tall. It has small white flowers that are arranged in bunches. The Roi tree produces many small fruits with a large seed inside. The fruits go from green to a dark blue/black color when ripe. The fruit is not very sweet, but quite enjoyable regardless.

The Amohe tree is a large tree with a call straight body, the back of a young tree is greenish-grey and smooth. In an old tree it is dark brown and has vertical cracks.The leaves are broad and have rough slightly hairy edges. The Amohe has flowers that form in long thick strands either before the leaves or amongst them. These flowers are tiny and white with red hairs.

Emoaha Tree

The Emoaha Tree is a not so large tree that loses its leaves in the dry season and has dark grey or blackish bark that is fragrant. The leaves are small, red/pink, and come in groups. The tree makes a round purplish or blue fruit with a woody center.

Dake Tree

This tree is found mostly along the banks of streams and the Mother's River. It has a grey soft bark and small twigs can feel feathery and are a brown color. The leaves vary in shape but are very large and usually dark green on top with a silver to brown underside. The flowers are white with a yellow shell around them, the petals are thin giving the flower a "spider-like" shape. The flowers are fragrant and can be used to keep away insects.

Pæbo Tree

The Pæbo is the source of another of the larger fruits found in the valley. The tree itself is taller than 4 G'ecko and has spiny branches, it can grow several trunks and can be twisty and gnarly. The bark is grey or a light sandy brown, leaves are small, glossy, and narrow. The tree has big bright red flowers with 3-7 petals. The fruit of the Yæbo is a dark red ball that is hard on the outside and is filled with a soft woody white flesh with small red berries scattered throughout. These berries contain the seeds of the tree and are somewhat see through.

Oli Tree

The Oli tree is a fast growing tree that does not loose its leaves in the dry season. It has many leaves and is a good source of shade. The bark is rough and dark at the base, but becomes lighter and smoother as you look higher up in the tree. The wood does not absorb water after being baked and is especially hard. The leaves are pinkish when young and change to a glossy dark green. These leaves are well loved by many animals and have a pleasant smell. The flowers are also fragrant and are small white and yellow and grow in clusters. The tree produces a large berry that starts out green and turns to pink, then red, then black when ripe. This fruit is sweet and a little sour, and will stain the tongue.

Yiesö Tree

The Yiesö tree is a tall tree roughly the height of 4 G'ecko or more and has rough bark with thorny branches. The leaves are shiny green and broad, with wrinkles. The flowers are small and yellow with five pretals in the shape of a star. The fruit is a large berry, similar in shape to the Roi. The fruit is green and smooth, but turns brown to a purple-black and develops wrinkles as it ripens. The fruit is eaten ripe or dried.

  *The different parts of a tree are refered to by their coresponding parts on the body. So the trunk of a tree is called the mi (mi) "body", and the branches are the redo (ɹɛdo) "arms". A do is when you find a branch that you have either cut off of a tree or found on the ground and can hold in one hand.
