Psychology

The G'ecko psychology is predominantly characterised by their jovial and innocent nature. The primary philosophy of the G'ecko is a worship of the concept of "Life," and to this end every G'ecko seeks to pursue the most fulfilled and enjoyable life that they can. This goal is not hedonistic in the slightest however, as the G'ecko do not exhibit much naivety about their circumstances. They actively embrace the hardships of their nomadic and tribal lifestyle, seeing all challenges and hardships as adding to their overall experience of a "full" life. A G'ecko will be saddened by the death of a friend or loved one, but seems to recover from their grief rather quickly, provided they have the support of their tribe around them. The G'ecko also seem rather unphased by failure and will often be observed taking failures in stride or as challenges to be considered and overcome. The G'ecko can be very tennacious, though some times this tendency is overcome by distractions such as food, or the arrival of some new novel opportunity. The G'ecko are rabid pursurers of entertainment and can be counted as some of the most experienced and masterful players of games and sports. They also enjoy many leisure activities such as singing, dancing, and various artistic crafts.

As a community, the G'ecko are highly social. They are so much so, that seeing a lone G'ecko is rare, but not unheard of. Most lone G'ecko tend to be male due to the males often having a higher drive for exploration, and the females being more valuable to the tribe as the bearers of young. The social nature of the G'ecko has proven to be a great advantage for them as the G'ecko seem incapable of seeing each other as potential threats. G'ecko meeting other members of their species approach each other as distant relatives, and embrace jovially regardless of whether or not they know each other. To each G'ecko, every other G'ecko is family. G'ecko are highly primed for cooperation, and will collaborate and organize almost instantaneously. This allows them to react quickly to external threats, and has surprised many a Canid raider or Felid thief with just how quickly a tribe of G'ecko will recognize a threat, reach a concensus, and act.

The Bio-Psychological Problem of the G'ecko
The G'ecko exhibit a curious psychological quirk that is so powerful in their psychy that it generates physiological reactions in them. A G'ecko cannot kill a sentient lifeform. This is not just a social taboo. This is a built-in psychological compulsion amongst the entire species. A G'ecko who kills a sentient life-form even accidentally will rapidly exhibit an extreme level of psychological stress, that if not addressed by their tribe-mates, will ultimately result in the death of the G'ecko. This typically presents first as extreme fear and discomfort, followed by depression and lethargy. The G'ecko will refuse all food and water and regardless of how recently the G'ecko has eaten, it typically will expire within hours to a day or two after the event.

This Bio-psychological compulsion amongst the G'ecko makes the G'ecko tempting targets for raiders, theives, and slavers. Slavers however, have to deal with the extreme social needs of the G'ecko, as individual G'ecko do not last long without a tribe around them.
