Language - Akadeke / αkαdɛkɛ

Ahkehdeh, meaning language, is the language of the G'ecko.   This language is still being developed and is my current focus at this time. The language is mostly inspired by Hawaiian, but also exhibits features inspired from other languages.

Writing System

The G'ecko have no formal writing system, though various pictographs have been used to pass on information between different wandering tribes or to mark nearby resources to be accessed at a later date.

Phonology

( I am not a linguist and am still trying to wrap my head around the IPA. I am actually finding that looking at Phonology it seems more an analytical tool and something that isn't terribly helpful when trying to generate a language whole hat. )

Morphology

Akadeke utilizes prepositions and postpositions to modify words for use in constructing noun and verb phrases. A noun phrase is formed from a preposition, a determiner, and then the noun, followed by a qualifier.

Syntax

Most syllables end in vowels, but these are the current syllables:
  • CV
  • V

  • VC*occurs only in proper names
Word stress is predictable in Akadeke, Stress is always on the second to last vowel in a word. Dipthongs are counted as two vowels and Tripthongs as three. A stressed syllable is louder, longer, and higher in pitch.
