Murford Ironfall
Murford Ironfall was the son of the legendary dwarven leader Glorin Ironfall who ruled the kingdom of Ironfall with wisdom and care for his people. Glorin was known as the "People's King" for his just and fair rule and for putting the well-being of his kingdom and its people first. Unfortunately, his son Murford inherited none of these qualities. He was lazy and had little regard for the well-being of the kingdom and its citizens. He lived a life of luxury, shirking his duties as the ruler of Ironfall and spending his time indulging in his vices.
His laziness and lack of concern for his people led to growing discontent among the dwarves of Ironfall. The final straw came when Murford famously declared that his court should give away their salary to the peoples if they were so concerned for them.
This callous statement was the final straw for many of the dwarves and Murford's personal champion, who had grown increasingly frustrated with the young king's laziness and neglect of his responsibilities. The champion saw the growing unrest and knew that the kingdom was in peril, and so he took it upon himself to put an end to Murford's rule. The champion assassinated Murford, ending the young king's reign and sparking a power struggle for control of Ironfall. The dwarves of Ironfall still talk of Murford and his father Glorin, comparing the two and mourning the loss of the just and wise rule they once enjoyed under Glorin.
