Arcanum Threat Classification {ATC} System
ATC-Alpha (Safe)
Description: Entries that are well-understood and pose little to no direct danger to their surroundings or handlers.
Containment: Easy to contain or may not require stringent containment procedures.
Example Usage: An ancient tome that whispers secrets but is otherwise inert unless read.
ATC-Beta (Euclid)
Description: Entries with unpredictable behaviours or properties. Their threat level can vary, and they require more resources to contain safely.
Containment: Containment procedures are more complex, often requiring regular observation and adjustment.
Example Usage: A mirror that shows possible futures but sometimes traps viewers in a trance-like state.
ATC-Gamma (Keter)
Description: Highly dangerous entries that pose a serious threat to the stability of the world, reality, or the fabric of space-time. Often difficult to contain.
Containment: Requires extensive and often complex containment procedures. May need constant surveillance and intervention.
Example Usage: A portal that intermittently opens to a malevolent dimension, releasing hostile entities.
ATC-Delta (Thaumiel)
Description: Entries that are used by The Order or allied organisations to contain or counteract other anomalies. These are often well-controlled or understood and provide strategic advantages.
Containment: Typically self-containing or beneficial in nature, but still monitored due to their potential impact.
Example Usage: An amulet that can neutralise extradimensional energies, essential in containing or mitigating other high-threat anomalies.
ATC-Omega (Apollyon)
Description: Entries that are essentially uncontainable and pose an existential threat to the world or reality itself. Their existence is often a closely guarded secret.
Containment: Containment is often not possible. The focus may be on mitigation, delay, or preparation for worst-case scenarios.
Example Usage: A cosmic entity that is slowly consuming the fabric of the universe, its presence barely kept at bay by immense and continuous efforts.
ATC-Zeta (Archon)
Description: Anomalies that have a profound and usually positive impact on humanity or reality. They might be integral to the existence or stability of the world.
Containment: Not contained due to their beneficial nature, but are closely monitored and studied.
Example Usage: A sentient library that holds the knowledge of all civilizations, continuously expanding and providing insight into solving other anomalies.
