Ludolism

DESCRIPTION

Ludolism is a religion that regards Gamers and Dev as equal and the same. In Ludothian scripture there are far more Dev than the nine Dev in the traditional Dev pantheon but they are all ruled over by the elusive Ludo. A common creed in Ludolism is "L is real" referring to the intense discriminations and hardships faced by the original Ludolists who had to fight to have their beliefs recognized. This is the religion that utilizes the Teeboggin funeral practice which involves position yourself over the deceased and crouching up and down a number of times. This is sacred sign of respect Ludists witnessed Gamers bestowing upon their fallen, a ritual Ludists now emulate.

RELIGIOUS TEXT EXCERPT

"In the beginning there existed a grand egg of blank pixels. It rested contently amongst the red, green and blue. Eons passed and the other pixels formed into the Dev. They were still red, green and blue but also mixtures of each other. The egg fascinated all the Dev. They poked and prodded it. There were whispers of what it held inside for so long. Was it friendly, dangerous or fun? None knew. The Dev created the Realms as they waited for the egg to hatch eventually forgetting the egg and what it contained within. Then a small crack appeared. The Dev grew quiet, waiting to see what the mysterious egg held. A creature emerged. A creature that was not of the Realms or the Dev, but of something else, somewhere else. This was the first Gamer. It roared and the Dev now understood what their toil was for. The Realms they created were to serve the Gamer and its kind. They were to serve the Gamer and its kind. The true Dev."

INSPIRATION

The Ludo creed "L is real" was inspired by a pixelated plaque found in Mario 64 that had the words "L is real" on it which suggested to many that the Luigi was somehow a playable charcter in the game. Reference The Teeboggin funeral ritual is an amusing misinterpretation by Nipiks of what gamers are doing when they "T-bag" others after they die. Some of the language for this excerpt was taken from a easter egg hidden in the game Casper: Spirit Dimensions behind a bookcase where a chicken character named "Lucky" orated this mysterious and out of place speech about a white pixel egg. This strange moment felt like it needed a more indepth exploration. Reference
