Completionism

Religiously devoted to 100%ing

DESCRIPTION

Completionists believe they were elevated above Mobs to complete a task or many tasks depending on the sect. Most sects of Completionism do not believe in the Dev Pantheon and instead believe in a multitude of unnamed ascended who have reached Completeness. Each sect keeps a holy book they call "The Journal" that detail rules of behavior and what tasks the faith demands completing. Each sect has a differing percent complete bar that they view as their progression towards Completeness and differing views on what tasks add to the percent complete bar. This percent complete bar is represented by what looks like a second health bar icon that adorns Completionists at about necklace level. What happens when Completeness is reached also heavily differs between sects but most believe that they will ascend to a higher plane of being. This is because Completionism was founded when Nipiks observed Gamers completing all of a game's quests and then logging out and never returning once this was done. The observed assumption was that the Gamer had ascended to Devhood.

RELIGION STRUCTURE

While there are many highly varying sects of Completionism, there are two distinct varieties: Linear and Free Roam.

LINEAR COMPLETIONIST

Linear Completionist sects have a defined list of tasks to complete that usually include some near impossible entries like "Convert all Nipiks to Completionism" or "Rid the Gamer Realms of Gamers". Linear Completionists are usually very tight knit groups who attend the same gatherings and reside in the same area. While it is usually one of the tasks in their Journal to convert other Nipiks to their way of thinking, Linear Completionists are often highly abrasive towards other faiths. The more successful Linear sects seem to include impossible tasks as a means to perpetuate themselves. The reason for this is either because they earnestly believe it is only by achieving the impossible that they are worthy of Devhood or knowing that if they reach Completeness and do not ascend they will meet a grisly fate. Some sects of Linear Compeltionists have come to a violent end when all the tasks of the sect's Journal were completed and its disillusioned followers turned on both their leader and each other when they failed to ascend.

FREE ROAM COMPLETIONIST

Free Roam Completionists started emerging after the founding of Completionism when devote Completionists started becoming unconvinced by legitimacy of the entries included in Linear Completionist Journals. Free Roam Completionists believe it is up to each individual to find out what their tasks are in their quest towards Completeness and to do them alone or in small fluid groups. Should a Free Roam Completionist complete all the tasks they laid down for themselves and not ascend they simply believe that they have not discovered all their tasks yet or some part of the task they thought complete remains undone. Free Roam Completionists are encouraged to seek out this information and explore the world only to return to the church should they need guidance or a renewal of faith. While it is hardly conclusive when a Free Roam Completionist does not return from these adventures it is mostly assumed that they achieved Completeness and ascended.

INSPIRATION

Completionism, as the name suggests, is based off of how many videogame users feel the need to 100% a game's quests and content.
