The Writstone
"Atop the Writstone the Empire was declared dead and the Kingdom of Sendilar was born"
Purpose / Function
All Queens and Kings of Sendilar coronations take place atop the Writstone. Oaths of Fealty take place on the summit as well. All Dukes, Duchesses, Kings and Queens of Sendilar are entitled to be entombed within the crypts of the Writstone
Design
The Royal Family and Each of the Seven Duchies has their own wing branching off from a central chamber like seven spokes of a whell, the eith spoke being the entrance
Entries
One Entry from the surface. The way is barred by a double set of thick steel banded oak doors. A secret tunnel to the Royal Palace is at the farthest end of the Royal Wing
Valuables
Each person entombed beneath the Writstone was buried in full, valuable finery. To any who dared to loot the crypts woud find great wealth
Alterations
A stairway to the summit has been carved around the northeastern edge. A chamber at the base has been expanded to a series of storage chambers and the massive crypts of Writstone
Architecture
A massive flat topped stone hill on the Northern edge of Bardhome, 8 stone thrones are carved from living rock on the summit. Beneath are massive crypts that are decorated with frescoes of the history of Sendilar going back to the Appointment of Isabella Reving as the Provincial Governor
Defenses
Two Guard towers are within bowshot of the Writstone and a detachment of Knights are always on duty to guard it
History
The Writ of Sendilar was signed atop the Writstone. It was there that Isabella Reving was crowned the first Queen of Sendilar. It was where she received the Oaths of Fealty from the first Dukes and Duchesses of Sendilar. When Queen Isabella died her wish to be entombed beneath the Writstone was honored and a magnificient crypt was built out of an existing cavern. Since then every member of the Royal Family has been laid to rest there as well as most of the Ducal families of Sendilar.
Tourism
The Writstone is visited daily by Citizens of the Kingdom of Sendilar. Many historians have also visited the historical site.
