Blessing of the Steel
"You see a golden hued blade then you are looking at blade that has received the Blessing of the Steel. Good fortune can follow someone who wields such a sword."
History
When the Order of Dawn went to battle they did so with enchanted weapons. Only blades crafted and blessed by the Master Smiths of Aclen, the finest smiths in the world, were able to receive the enchantments. The Order gave to the Master Smiths the secrets to the Blessing of the Steel. The would use the Blessing to consecrate the weapons made for the Order. Those blessed weapons were able to inflict pain on Demons. The enchantments of the Order of Dawn allowed them to kill demons. The Master Smiths passed these secrets from master to apprentice. The Blessing of Steel was done every time a weapon received its final quench. This continued till the why of it was lost to living and written memory. By the time of Val the First the Blessing of the Steel had become a custom of the smiths of the Guild of the Forge to signify a forging was complete and a weapon was ready to face any enemy. The region, now known as Aclenisia, is still the only place the Blessing of the Steel is done
Execution
When the weapon is placed into the final quench it is left until the steel has cooled completely. It is then pulled from the oil and the blade is coated in a special compound known as sunsap. The blade is then lit aflame. As the sunsap burns the Master Smith sheds a drop of his own blood into the flames and intoning the blessing itself.
"As the dawn banishes the dark, as the blood fires my heart, bless this steel so that even the dark cannot stand against it."
When the fire of the sunsap finally goes out the blade is ready for sharpening and polishing. Upon completion the blade possesses a gold like sheen.Components and tools
