Ennar
The Eddy's resident boat pilot is Ennar, a former Dissolver and longtime friend of Alcendis Varenonde. For the entirety of her tenure as Dancinglight he would not allow her to sail on any boat but his. Even though she's now retired from the position, Ennar still takes responsibility for transporting the new Dancinglight anywhere around the ocean he is needed.

Personal history
Ennar was born a Tiderider, but essentially grew up a Dissolver. His family traded around the outside of the Cluster Islands, and so had been less affected as the boat conduits spread across the Inside Sea. But soon after Kezlaf took over as Uniter he announced his intentions to build conduits to the outer islands as well, blocking the last clear routes. Ennar was not even a year old when his family tethered their fleet to the Dissolvers.
He first met Alcendis when the Dissolvers rescued the survivors of Zaiyev's double eruption. She had a guardian, but for as long as she was aboard the ship Ennar was her guide. When she later came back to be a Dissolver in her own right, Ennar took on a fatherly role despite their six-year age difference. They often worked together on missions.
He cut his tether to the Dissolvers after a mission ended in disaster. When he reported back to their leader, she was more concerned about whether they had carried off the mission than about what happened to the two of them afterward.
Employment
Ennar still considers himself a Tiderider even though he has no family attachment except to Alcendis. He has quarters at the Eddy and teaches the protos and Seekers boatcraft when he isn't sailing the Dancinglight somewhere on business.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Despite not being officially a Dissolver at the time, Ennar participated in the attack on Mraydor. He was in the Uniter's palace when the Wringers confronted Kezlaf, though he wasn't near enough to see what happened.
Social
Family Ties
When Ennar left the Dissolvers, he left his family. Many people believe that he and Alcendis are lovers, but as someone who has observed them interact I can confidently say they are not. He is fatherly toward all the protos and casually friendly toward the Seekers and Sages.
