Ayshan
Ayshan is the youngest of the resident large-scale workers responsible for activating the water dome that shields the Eddy's meditating Seekers from interference from visitors.

Personal history
Ayshan's mother was an untethered trader, one of the casualties of the sabotage that interrupted the trade meet of 2053 Vol. The youngest children had been hastily evacuated from their boats for safety, but none of the others knew Ayshan's name or who her parents had been. Willing relatives claimed all but the baby. When no one stepped forward, Dancinglight Varenonde took responsibility for her, bringing her to the Eddy while Tideriders passed around queries for information about who Ayshan might really belong to.
As she grew, it became clear that she had good potential for water working. Despite this, the Dancinglight refused to keep her at the Eddy permanently, citing Kezlaf's unfortunate precedent of grooming young water sensitives. As soon as some distant cousins were uncovered, Ayshan was given to them for formal adoption.
When she was old enough to be accepted as a proto, she returned to the Eddy for training in working water. She has said that she would have had an easier time learning it if she had been allowed to begin earlier.
Employment
For now she is on the Eddy's Dome team, but she has plans to rejoin her cousins and help defend their boat in rough weather. Her plan is to be just the first of a corps of boat guardians. Her belief is that they will someday be as essential as navigators.
