Political science and law student Thomas Young and his university friends Kirk Forsberg, Jeremy Phillips and Grigor Pilkin realized that in the chaos that ensued when humans started leaving Earth, they could actually get themselves a pretty sweet new life. So, at first, they collected valuable items that other people were forced to leave, and after gathering a considerable fortune, ended up being among the last ones who left the dying planet.

The first big economical crisis
Financial EventThe first crisis that hit human communities after the departure from Earth. The impact was rather devastating, in the most severely affected areas many young parents had to give up their children so they could survive. The Syndicate's founding member Robert Phillips and his wife Carina created the Niobe Orphanage and Academy in 17 to help the struggling communities by providing free education and accommodation for children.
