The Conflict
Prelude
Assassination of Shen Imperial Family
Deployment
Shen Empire
The Shen Navy advanced across the Central Ocean and the Shen Ground Forces marched towards the Lands of Light to cross Callag's bridge. Their Air Force will shadowed both. Shen Marines razed New Shorsland and used it as a jumping off point to the central mainland. Akurn were sent forth to gather information and assassinate figureheads and individuals of importance within the Men of the West.Men of the West
The small Royal Navy of the Men of the West pulled in close to the mainland and abandoned trade routes in order to better protect the port cities of Crackennis, Farsa, Gailbreak, and Failau and ferry troops up and down rivers. The King ordered levies all across the kingdom and most of its forces gathered at Farsa to await further orders.Battlefield
There were only four major battles in the entire 90-year war.
First Battle
The first was at Callag's bridge and resulted in a complete Shen victory (Led by Lord Osha Mashado) and the almost complete eradication of the Men of the West's forces in the area (Led by Duke Edward Yyorson).Second Battle
The second was the also the second largest. It was the utter crushing of the Men of the West's forces at Farsa. General Blightlander led the Men of the West forces there and disappeared after the battle. Prince Zukoros led the Shen forces to a never before seen effect and this battle was the first time he unleashed his Kārē.Third Battle
The third battle was the sack of the capital city of the Men of the West, Ero. Emperor Väläkæ personally led the assault and was the first through the White Gates of Salvation. Here King Artur Ravenblood made his last stand along with his ninety Virðu-ligr guards while the city burned around them. "The city fell before the Virðu did"Fourth Battle
The fourth battle ended the war. Luciel Weyelin returned from death to end the conflict. Despite originally aligning himself against the Shen Empire Luciel killed the leader of the Western Rebellion (God King Lews Therrin) and his adopted daughter (General Amanome Therrin). He then proceeded to crush the rebellion and the reformed Prince Zukoros with the help of Emperor Väläkæ and the remaining Shen forces. For this act Luciel was forever labeled as, "The Traitor" or "The Traitor Hero / Hǫlðr". The final defeat of the western forces marked the start of Shen dominance in the region until the re-emergence of Hǫlðr in 0 BY.Outcome
The central continent was mistreated and the people were heavily discriminated against. Famine, death, and disease spread across the land. Trade shut down and the Hǫlðr virtually ceased to exist. The magical people in the area also appeared to disappear.
Aftermath
The Shen Empire would be very violently overthrown and Southern Humans would become slaves and looked down on as lesser, evil, and excessively violent beings. The Men of the West would re-emerge as the Kingdom of Free Peoples and be stronger than ever before. Luciel Weyelin would be regarded as a traitor and the rest of the Hǫlðr would be regarded as martyrs.
Historical Significance
Much of the West and Shen's history was lost because of the war, and thus brought forth an age of exploration towards history.Legacy
The war's legacy can be seen in few places such as the giant cemeteries of *insert name here* and torn up battle grounds, still broken. The statues in remembrance of the Hǫlðr still stand in the capital as well.
In Literature
Many accounts from all sides of the conflict have been recorded, but an unfortunate aspect of the war was how much of the West and Shen's literature was burned in the war.
Technological Advancement
A few new inventions came about because of the war. Advancements in enchanted weapons and binding pacts were made, as well as great strides in siege and air combat.
