Lord Roðinn

Lord General Hjǫrr Roðinn (a.k.a. The Monster of the East)

Roðinn. The Butcher. The Monster of the West. Undefeated in combat, Lord Roðinn was the most feared man in the Homeland until his death at the hands of the Great Wolf. Under his cruel gaze, millions perished in the name of the Western Empire.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Lord Roðinn was born to a fierce military family in the midst of the reunification wars. His childhood was characterized by bloodshed and atrocities committed against his people. He watched friends, family, even lovers die at the hands of enemy war bands which would forge him into the perfect weapon.
Roðinn was conscripted into the army as soon as he was old enough to serve, as most boys were. He found himself perfectly at home on the frontlines and was quickly catapulted up the ranks until he held the rank of Lord General. He was brutal and cruel in war, though under his iron fist, no more raids would target the civilians of his home. Thousands would die at the hands of Lord Roðinn in the following years, culminating in the battle of the red forest.
In this battle, the forests were said to run red with the slain as Lord Roðinn's forces tore through the defenders as they had become notorious for doing. In the middle of this battle, a massive artillery barrage was launched, destroying both sides. Lord Roðinn was nearly killed, until Lady Cassandra saved his life. From then on, Roðinn would be a major power in the reunification wars until his death. Out of respect for Lady Cassandra, however, he would never launch any attacks against her home.
Roðinn's death would come at the hands of Calorus the Venerated when the Wolf Queen seized the Imperial Throne. This marked the end of a rein of blood, though Roðinn's name would resonate for centuries following, as both a hero and a conqueror.

Mental Trauma

Roðinn spent much of his childhood watching his countrymen die at the hands of foreign invaders. This brutal upbringing suppressed much of his compassion and instilled a sense of xenophobia in Roðinn.

Morality & Philosophy

Roðinn adheres strictly to a code of honor on the battlefield. He will, however, do anything to protect his people and often uses terror tactics against his enemies. Important to note, Roðinn does not kill out of a sense of bloodlust, but out of necessity. He believes that any enemy he doesn't kill today will return to burn his home tomorrow.
He believes all outsiders to be bloodthirsty monsters, and shows no restraint in battle. Though civilians might be caught in the crossfire, he also never actively targets them. While he holds no love for these savages, he does not hate them.

Taboos

Roðinn will not target civilians in battle, nor will he send war bands to raid the enemy. Everything Roðinn does, he does out of necessity, not pleasure.
