Upon his promotion to Grandmaster, Lucien forsook his old armor in favor of his Grandmaster's robes. These white robes mark him as the head of the Church. Additionally, he was gifted a golden laurel wreath, which he took to wearing out of respect.

Personal history

Grandfather Lucien was the Grandmaster of the Church of the Light in the centuries leading to the Long Night. He was well liked by most, and considered a deacon of the church. He personally trained many of the Order's greatest heroes and was well known to be kind and compassionate, but strict and principled. He mediated many quarrels within the order, while also fostering healthy rivalries to better the knights under his lead. During the Long Night, he would meet his end defending the Roman Keep alongside his knights at the hands of a priest of the Dark.

Education

Lucien was trained since boyhood in the Order of the Light. Originally he was trained as a scribe, but was transferred to knighthood after his skill with the sword was uncovered.

Employment

Lucien served as a knight for many years before being promoted to Knight Captain. When the Grandmaster before him was killed by dark assassins, Lucien accepted the mantle of responsibility.
He served as the order's grandmaster and attempted to weed out the corruption of the church.

Unlike many in the church, Lucien believed that they were still fallible, even when acting in the name of the Light. He acted piously in hopes that others would see this and follow suit, and many did. He banned many extremist tactics from being used under his lead, believing them to be excessive and counter to the will of the Light.

Motivation

In his time as a knight, Lucien was once driven by ambition and pride. This made him arrogant and prideful in his youth. As time marched ever forward, he became more altruistic in his goals, simply seeking to better his church and, by extension, the communities surrounding it. As Grandmaster, he sought to banish the darkness from everyone's lives through acts of kindness.

Lucien took a less literal interpretation of the Book of the Light. He believed deeply in the spirit of the book, but not in its message. he strove to eliminate the dogma of blind obedience and to replace it with a set of moral principles for all knights to follow.

Lucien had a natural charisma few could match. His joyous, bemused manner always served to brighten the mood of those who he would come across. He rarely raised his voice, and was always polite, even to those widely considered "beneath him."
