Ingal

The Diligent Ingal

Ingal the Diligent, name born from his wanderings tasks around the waters of his home. He wishes to see what the world has to offer. Prone to wanderlust with an underlying curiosity of things both near and far, in specific, very far. Tends to be a moneypincher at the worst of times. Has an ingrown destestment of raiders due to stories from home. Ingal views most humans as possibly sources of corruption, due to their propensity towards senseless violence, random worship, and unwanted mutation. However, Ingal still wishes to not see the agony of humans he sees as undeserving. Though that is not much to say considering he sees as one possible cutthroat after another. Mercenaries are quite the turncoats at times.

Personal history

Ingal was born on XI) 337,1,21 under the Coins to a shipwright in Cothique called Eislegol. In the calendar of the Human "Empire" the birthdate would be 2460 on the 6th of Ulriczeit. Cothique was a superstitious place that possessed a people who were hardened by the rare raids of Dark Elves and Norsemen. The waters beyond their shores churn with vicious Leviathans and monsters waiting there to test any ship. Ingal grew upon this chilled land the younger of two siblings; his sister was Eneshar the Pleasant, a lady of one of the under-palaces' courts. His brother, Ereshal the Swift, takes long sojourns as a hunter raiding ships across the whole of Ulthuan's outer coasts. As with most of Cothique's people Ingal possessed a strong wanderlust. Even further than that, Ingal had an innate curiosity going to reaches that even the long-lived adults are cautious to tread. He would on occasion explore the outer halls of previously sunken courts and palaces always bringing some charm or piece of comfort with him. Perhaps this strangeness came from his father who seemed to have no want to leave their home and rarely went down to see the majesty of the underground castles. His mother, Shargenai the Fair, tried to live near to Eislegol as much as possible although it sometimes had to be cut with her duties as a Sorceress. Whatever magical abilities she possessed seemed to flow into his sister, though how much she has developed it not known to Ingal. After cutting his teeth on Cothique's treacherous waves Ingal left for open waters. He travelled about the world finding that Humans both sated and inflamed his curiosity. This led to him spending much of his time looking over their lands picking up rumors through his voyages. His remembrance of how savage and barbaric the Norse behave have kept him from fully exploring Norsca though it did not quinch his curiosity. The dwarfs did however sate his curiosity very quickly after running into a particular hold on coast filled with aging and, frankly, misled warriors. The dwarfs quickly established their history with the constant referral to Bearded War. This did nothing more than sour Ingal's mood and leave him furious with them. Ingal grew tired of the dwarfs' inane chattering after a day, especially the laziest dwarf Bronn, and left for other waters and opportunities. Perhaps things will be more fortuitous for his mind and meeting of one of those dwarfs. He'll make sure to make fun of any clan member he meets in the world. Eventually, Ingal travelled to Tilea after a detour in Araby for trade. There he found good work in the shipping lanes and the occasional privateering contract. Ingal found that Tilean cuisine was especially delightful to the senses. He enjoyed his stay there despite the violence that seems to plague the city states and waters there. His wanderlust calling, he started moving inwards working among mercenaries for money in Tilea then doing whatever odd job called in during his travels. Ingal found himself walking the Reik Basin, mayhap he shall visit one of their greater cities or the deeper recesses of his forest cousins. Unfortunately, his coffers run low and even elves must eat. Ingal finds himself doing a protection job for ill-spoken Bretonnian knight. The only companionship on the job being a Stirland mercenary. It will be a long trip; Ingal might as well make some small talk.

Gender Identity

He's a male. What's the point of this section?

Sexuality

He likes elven women.

Education

Learned from the fleets of Cothique. Tutored by some friends of the family when time was alloted.

Employment

Sailor and mate of the Elven fleets Mate of various maritime vessels around Araby and Tilea Mercenary in lower and upper Tilea Bodyguard/guardsman of a Bretonnian knight's riverboat while it travels through the Reik Basin. Technical employment when attached to the party though more worry for one particular member over possible abuse.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Snuck into a noble lord's mansion guarded by Carroburgers and stole several paintings after the lord refused payment of a shipment of Brettonian wines. Helped defend Grosslin from a necromancer's attack. Gained a Falx from it. Helped kill that same necromancer as he was doing a ritual at the peak of Mount Björn. Costed him his life.

Failures & Embarrassments

He is actually very young for an elf. Will becomes embarrassed if they point out he is so young despite being 40.Slight Inferiority as barely comr from artisians in the Old World. Became terrified at the unnatural siege of Undead in Grosslin. Failed to stop Rudi from performing brain surgery of an amnesiac, Wolfgang. Due to fear that Rudi and Gretchen were possibly kidnappers. Failed to save Adelbert or help him find the horse and cart when it carried off an unconscious Wolfgang. What was possibly his wandering corpse helped lead to Ingal's death.

Mental Trauma

Sanity partially fractured from an undead and magic encounter in the vaults of Mt. Björn.

Intellectual Characteristics

Cannot read Human languages, except maybe Tilean. Is not the most studious but tends persevere despite so. Thinks himself higher than humans for the most part. Hears of many things and has a commoner's knowledge of Tilea.

Morality & Philosophy

He sees Humanity as something to protect and nurture like a nascent child or more likely a diseased animal of nature. Something that is beset by a plague or disease that must be eradicated. Ingal wishes for the humans to grow out of their brutality ,but doesn't think they ever will. He usually sees them more as a silly curiosity in more relaxed environs. Cares not for their laws. Ingal feels ambivalent to the brutality and violence given to one another, but tends to be against it if he feels like there was no wrong doing beforehand. Doesn't like the destruction of true innocents. Anything that reminds him of the raiders of his homeland he hates and abhors. Like kidnappers.

Taboos

Won't eat intellectual/ sapient beings...probably.

Motivation

Wanderlust and seeking to sate his curiosity of the world through various facets.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Well traveled and has heard most every rumor from the South to the Empire.   Can't read monkey languages.

May call a Human a Monkey.

Attempts to be very clean when on land.

Adelbert Krause the Stirlander Bronn the dwarf wanderer

Family Ties

Eislegol, father and shipwright Shargenai, mother and Sorceress Ereshal the Swift, elder brother and Marine;Elfhunter Eneshar the Pleasant, elder sister and Sorceress/courtieress

Religious Views

Complicated Elven Religion. Tends to see Mathlann as neutral, but that of a patron. Asuryan is distant. Tries to give proper thanks to both Isha and especially Kurnous when in the wilderness far from towns. Fears the unknown of death. Morai-heg, the Crone is probably not the worst person to be an underling of. Wishes to avoid both Ereth Kial, and her underlings, and Heshe Who Thirsts. Thinks Human religion has odd connections with some gods being obvious cribs his own including the Wood Elf Goddess, Torothal.

Social Aptitude

Not the best around Humans but tries to be aloof and polite to the lesser race.

Mannerisms

Tries to be clean as possible. Always crosses his legs Indian style when fishing near a river.

Hobbies & Pets

pets? Likes to fish when he can. Will gab the time away with those he considers friend or any who are interesting.

Speech

Posh or high end. Sounds almost snooty to many. Talks more informally when excited still not as bad as the sorcerers of Ulthuan.

Wealth & Financial state

Golden skeleton figurine with a hat 1/5th of the pot of gems which was then partially used to hire Mercenaries(given back?) 100 gold crowns 29 silver shillings Painting worth a great deal in a tube(might be given to Rudi)
