Sanctus Bellum
An ancient Temple from the Dawn Age, after the Gods first slew the Great Dragon. It has been a sight for mysterious phenomenon for eons, with people living near the location reporting strange beams of light, screams, and even creatures coming from the abandoned temple, once dedicated to the worship of Hrothmund, the God of War. It is said that Sanctus Bellum was once the center of the Old Kingdom, where Hrothmund ruled Sos Lokluv with all his godly might, supported by the many ancient ruins that defy human expectations and belief around the site. Once a place where a God ruled, the temple has fallen into ruin over the eons, becoming the last remnant from the distant past where the Gods walked among mortal races. It has long been speculated to be the final resting place of Hrothmund and Ingemar themselves.
Purpose / Function
When it was first built, it is believed by Convergence Scholars that it was once the foundations of Hrothmunds physical home, where he ruled Ragnias and Rukulos when he built his Kingdom. In it's prime as temple, it was the source of Hrothmund's godly power after he left the Mortal World, where mortals worshiped him endlessly. Sacrifices of gold, food, drink, animals, and even humans were made to show devotion to the God of War.
Alterations
The Central Basin, originally was an unadorned granite bowl, help up by short pillar which it rest inside of. It was said that Hrothmund, as the End of Days begins, shall open his veins, and tear open a hole in reality, so that he may wage True War upon those who seek his destruction. The basin was replaced long ago, now made of marble on a much smaller pillar, filled with a liquid that shimmers and shines like silver, yet runs like water.
Architecture
The Sanctus Bellum is made primarily out of a smooth stone, which has retained its surface for eons, as if resisting the elements. Large arches crowned by pillars of a similar stone tower over a pathway that leads to the dome-like temple, where dragon bones are placed ornamentally over the glass like surface of the stone. The door ways are wide and tall, to allow even the gods to enter
History
Long ago, during the First Age, after Hrothmund and the Gods defeated the Great Dragon, it is said that the Sanctus Bellum was once the location where Drakaris, the Mother of Gods and Bearer of the Worlds Torch, ascended into the sky, chaining the Sun and flying it around the world, creating night and day. It was also here that Hrothmund was said to have begin building his Kingdom, now referred to as "The Old Kingdom," laying the temples foundations as the base of his personal residence, the Hall of Hrothmund. This is also where the concept for the Halls of the Gods began.
The Hall of Hrothmund stood for centuries, the Kings and Queens that ruled from it becoming the Lords of Ragnias, before it was sacked during the Second Convergence by another Lord from a different Realm.
