Personal history
Born as Princess Reyna Josephine Stalsworth to King Damien and Queen Alexandra Stalsworth in the Second Age of the Dominion, Reyna was the youngest of three siblings, her brother Alric Victor Stalsworth, the eldest and heir to the throne, and her sister, Isabella Jasmine Stalsworth, the middle and promised to Tybalt of the Summer Isles. Due to her being the youngest, Reyna grew up with everyone wrapped around her fingers, her outgoing and fun-loving personality allowing her to learn how to manipulate people from a young age. She was also very self-centered and cared little for anyone else but herself and that which benefited her.
At the age of seven, Reyna met Elise, a fiery, strong-willed girl who would one day become her best friend. The two were very much inseparable, practically growing up together. It was also around this time, however, that the chain of events that slowly unhinged Reyna's life began. Her brother Alric had a friend, named Lyon, who at the time, served as one of the personal guards of the crown prince. He was convinced that Damien and Alexandra were betraying the people of Keltosil, and acquired proof just before Alric's coronation. After he stormed into the Throne room and showed his proof to the Court and his prince, Alric took the ceremonial crown in hand and broke it upon the floor, renouncing his claim to the throne and leaving Reynshold, swearing only to return when their parents no longer sat upon the throne.
Reyna's parents were furious, exiling Alric, before beginning to teach Isabella how to rule. Reyna continued her careless meanderings, collecting curios and trinkets from across Keltosil, however now being forced to be accompanied at all times by a member of the Royal Guard, namely Conrad, a beast of a man, armored in plate and mail.
Then the Convergence began.
At the age of 19, Reyna continued her lifestyle as the youngest sibling, frivolously spending her parents' gold on oddities and rare pieces of curiosity, her parents signed off on a marriage agreement for her. She was to marry a man named Halfdan of the Free Marches, who claimed to a native to the Northern lands. Despite protests and an argument that led to Reyna spending a few nights with Elise in the city below, she reluctantly took the marriage proposal, agreeing after some urging from Isabella.
A few months passed and Reyna was miserable- she hated every moment of married life, but loved to spend time with Aeron, whose exotic nature fascinated her. One day, as the family held a feast in honor of Isabella and Tybalt's announcement of their first child, Aeron made a bold move, catching everyone, even Reyna, by surprise. Aeron challenged Tybalt to a duel, for the rights to the Throne, claiming that only the strong can be allowed to rule. Tybalt agreed, despite some advice from Isabella, imploring her husband not to, as Aeron was easily twice Tybalts size.
On the day of the duel, Aeron and Tybalt fought viciously, with Aeron coming out on top. But as Tybalt knelt before Aeron, the new heir to the throne looked to Damien, who gave him a subtle nod. Reyna knew something was wrong and his suspicions were confirmed when Aeron severed Tybalt's head from his body with his bare hands. Realizing that something was amiss, Reyna fled Reynshold in search of her brother, to find out what was going on. Later joined by Elise and Lyon, who was working as a mercenary in the city, the three fled east to find Alric.
When they found Alric, he revealed that the Convergence had begun and now, godlike beings from other worlds were vying for power in other realms. It is here where they began their own rebellion, vowing to overthrow the Dominion. After its defeat, Alric abdicated the throne to Reyna, who had become a strong leader and a fighter.
Then, Valdr and Edric show up on her doorstep.
Over the course of their Convergence, Reyna battled not only her foes, but herself. On one hand, she had developed a close relationship with the wise and intelligent Edric, at first simply as an intellectual and friend, but that soon became affection and admiration, with physical intimacy as a not uncommon occurrence between the two. On the other, she developed a sexual attraction to the mighty and stalwart Valdr, whose reckless, yet effective strategies during their war proved that he was a capable warrior and his steadfastness and valiant heart as a king and a father made him among the greatest matches one could've dreamed of. if only his heart had not already been for another.
After Edric and Valdr first discovered the timeline in which they all fell, Edric told Reyna of the dream he had afterward, and together, they discovered the hard truth- because they had witnessed this timeline, there was a chance theirs could go irreparably wrong- and it did.
After Valdr’s ascension, Reyna did her best to comfort the clearly broken man that was her friend. She spent more and more time with him, hosting banquets and feasts in his honor as a newly crowned god- the first since Hrothmund's ascension- but his mood never seemed to change, deep melancholy and heartache almost consuming him. At one point, she even sat and begged him to find a new purpose, just so that she could have her friend back. Valdr sat in silence. In defeat, Reyna then confessed her true feelings for Valdr, recalling how she felt when he was more himself, before his family's death. She spent a long while, talking to him, and he never said a word, seeming to only listen. It was this night that reignited Valdr's fire, thanking Reyna the way she desperately wanted to be.
The Ragniasi that remember that night still tell tales of how loud they were.
After Valdr was given the chance to be returned to his family, the swift end of the Resurgence soon became a reality. Edric's victories over Abdil-Ili, Aelius’ Right Hand and Ominotago, Voice of the Fireborn removed Aelius’ vanguard armies from the battlefield and cut away his connections to reality-warping magic, while Valdr's utter annihilation of Scathach, Blade of Aelius and Batu, The Wandering Warlord destroyed any chance of Aelius having strong enough warriors to even challenge the other two. Reyna was forced, by default, to end her former husband, Halfdan of the Free Marches . She did so swiftly, without facing him in one on one combat, blasting him away with cannon fire from beyond the frigid shoreline. That wound still stings.
Within a year, Reyna, Edric, and Valdr all converged on Aelius’ capital city in his own realm, laying waste to his world. With a literal god at their side, none stood a chance of beating the trio, but Reyna and Edric both watched in horror as Valdr single-handedly made the realm uninhabitable, ruthlessly burning every village and city that stood in his path to the Lord of Glass, to the ground. After cornering a smug and aloof Aelius, Valdr intended to kill him then and there, but the Lord of Glass had other plans, knowing why Valdr's ascension had gone awry, and revealing that both Edric and Reyna knew that it would.
Valdr's rage was cataclysmic, to say the least. Beginning a short-lived manhunt for Edric and Reyna, the duo narrowly escaping the Ragniasi Horde, before returning to Ragnias after Valdr reached out to them, telling them that Aelius wouldn't be a problem anymore.
Near the Convergence's end, Reyna helped persuade Valdr to bring the shattered realms back together, creating one whole world again, explaining that way, she could help him rebuild his life after everything that had happened. But Valdr told her that this was to be his last gift to her; for betraying his trust, he vowed that if anyone, including Edric and Reyna herself, either intentionally or unintentionally stepped foot in Ragnias, allowed anyone to interfere with the continent, or conspired against him, he would return, and raze their homes to the ground before finishing the broken promise that Hrothmund gave him- killing those responsible for his family's death.
3 years later, Valdr returns, and after leading Reyna to believe that he was back to normal, and that he would give her the life she wanted for them both if she told him where Edric was, she lied. And he betrayed her after she was found out, mortally wounding her, signaling the Great Raid of Reynshold.
Reyna died in Edric's arms, apologizing for everything she did to wrong him. Her final words were I love you, Edric
