Jarðskjálfti, the Earth-Breaker (Yard-sk-yahl-f-tee)

The signature weapon of Runa Blackhammer, gifted to her by Hrothmund when she learned of her heritage. Forged from a dense metal, rumored to have been retrieved from the very core of Ragnias, it burns with a fiery heat rivaled only by the Blood of Hrothmund itself.

History

Forged during the Old Kingdom's time, Jarðskjálfti was once the weapon made for Asbjorn, the God of Strength, before he was born, before Hrothmund realized his sons' prowess for hand-to-hand combat. After Asbjorn had grown up, the weapon languished within the personal armory of Hrothmund, never seeing the light of day nor the clamor of battle. That was, until Runa, who would one day come to be known as "The Blackhammer," arrived in the Sanctus Bellum.   Upon completing the Trials, Hrothmund spoke to Runa, revealing the truth of her heritage and of her duty to fight. When she protested, asking why she had an obligation to a world that had been nothing but cruel to her, to people who she's never could know or those who had tortured her in youth, to parents that never loved her. Hrothmund did not respond at first, hoisting up the hammer for her to take. "Your strength shall test them all. whether they stand firm or break, depends on you." he said to her   The moment Jarðskjálfti fell into Runa's grasp, the long-dormant and dead core of the weapon roared to life, turning molten and glowing beneath its ancient, cracked surface. Runa vowed that day to push herself to her zenith, and return to the world what it had given her.   After quelling the First Dragon Isle Invasion of 10571, the Anchorgate of Ragnias on Storms Chain opened, signaling the beginning of the Second Convergence, giving Runa her first glimpse of the war Hrothmund had promised her. Within mere days of the opening of the Anchorgate, an invasion force of two thousand men aboard two Sea Fortress type ships arrived in the bay, laying siege to the island around the only entrance to Primordia from Ragnias to form a beachhead for a larger invasion force. Runa’s first taste of battle against it for not from her homeland was just as bloody. Jarðskjálfti‘s power over volcanism and concussive force proved damning for the invading forces, who were revealed to be a sect of religious zealots from the realm of Keltosil. Every strike of the hammer was a death blow, breaking bone like twigs and bending steel like it were nickel.   Eventually, as the invading foe retreated back towards their ships, Runa then discovered the true power of Jarðskjálfti. In a rage, not being able to pursue her foe in their retreat, she struck the earth with such feriocity that it shook the very bones of the earth, forming a tidal wave of such magnitude, it swallowed the two ships in whole.   Runa would go on to lead the Ragniasi conquest on other Realms, culling the weak from the strong as they marched onward, rising once again to the single strongest Lord of their Convergence. Runa’s ultimate feat of strength came at the end of her war. With her enemies on the retreat and the Blood of Hrothmund roaring hot in her veins, she struck the earth with one mighty blow, shattering an entire Realm.   Jarðskjálfti has since been lost and only the High Priestess of the Stridstimar knows it’s location.
