Hrodulf Iron-Heart

Lord Hrodulf Olafsson (a.k.a. Hrothmunds Right Hand)

Although being the first of Hrothmund's blood to claim the title of Dominus for themselves during a Convergence Hrodulf is hardly remembered as the First Dominus, much of it due to his disliking for being considered equal to that of Hrothmund himself, whom Hrodulf held deep respect towards and was more of a pawn in the greater game of the High War, thus leading to the monocher, Hrothmund's Right Hand, after his death. Very little is recorded of his exploits, and even fewer places to verify their truth.

Physical Description

Personal history

Not much information of Hrodulf's life is available, largely due to the 25,000 years that have passed since records were kept on him and the destruction of the Old Kingdom, but common knowledge stems from Ragniasi folktales, myths, and legends; below is merely a Convergence scholars' best guess at a timeline that they have constructed from those sources   Born to Sigrid Ingridsdaughter, Hrodulf was destined for greatness, as his mother had prayed endlessly for a son, and Hrothmund himself answered, taking a mortal form, known as Olaf Longarm, and giving to her his seed. After his birth, the Desecration of the Old Kingdom began. Soon, its people and the Thirteen Heirs of Hrothmund who ruled as Kings and Queens of the vast empire passed into legend, including High King Toren, the eldest, and thus, would-be Dominus of Ragnias. Thus began the dreaded wolf age   Throughout old texts, the times during and after the Desolation of the Old Kingdom were described as the beginning of "a sword age, an axe age, a wind age, a wolf age   During this sword age, Hrodulf and his mother joined a caravan of traders and grew up with hardship around every corner. Bandits and fledgling lords committed great atrocities, lacking the presence of a strong rule of law to keep them at bay. Raids on small towns and even larger cities were common, as the people of Ragnias learned what kind of harsh logic truly ruled over their daily lives and how long they had lived without fear, as the truly mighty staked claim on the ravished, poisoned land. It is here, that Hrodulf also adopted this cold logic of the blade, but also developed a strong sense of honor and valor.   The Logic referred to here is the Universal Law of the Sword.   Reaching the age of seventeen, Hrodulf struck out on his own, leaving behind the caravan in search of some way to fix everything. After wandering for several days, he came upon a mounted Reaver, who called himself Olaf Longarm. The two traveled together for a few years, Olaf teaching him the ways of the world's harsh logic, but also helping him uphold his honor and valor, proving himself worthy in the eyes of his mentor. At the age of twenty-five, Olaf revealed his true form, Hrothmund erupting from a funeral pyre that Hrodulf had built for his mentor. Hrothmund revealed that Hrodulf was the last of His blood, crowning him Dominus of Ragnias, and telling him the truth of the Desolation; of how a rival Lord struck hard and fast at the weakened Ragniasi, who had almost abandoned the logic that defined and shaped them into what they once were.   It is here that Hrodulf then struck out with a new purpose- to teach his people once again to seek might above all, but hold honor and valor above that. 20 years passed, and Hrodulf had amassed a following of over 20,000 men and women, all who followed the Old Ways once again. These were the legendary Hrodulf's Wolves, and they alone stood for Ragnias during the First Convergence. Despite unfathomable odds stacked against them, Hrodulf’s Wolves proved that by following the icy cold logic that shaped their ancestors, that they too could reach apotheosis. After realizing that the Convergence had an end, one of Hrodulf's rivals attempted to kill him and his only heir, Alvina, to put an end to Ragnias forever. The Rival struck Hrodulf in his heart, but the Dominus held fast, continuing to fight until the barrier between worlds was sealed again. Hrodulf then plunged Rozol into his opponent, killing him, before he exchanged final words with his daughter. And then he too passed away, joining Hrothmund in the Halls of Valor, where his people praised him as Hrodulf Iron-Heart, Hrothmunds’ Right Hand.
