Cretaceous-Paleogene Extinction Occurs
Extinction
66 Million BC
The Watchers have witnessed countless ecosystems die off over the course of Earth's history, and the extinction of non-avian dinosaurs marks a turning point in their personal knowledge of the Earth. They begin keeping track of their information.
The Watchers have seen life diversify, destroy itself, and reset itself over and over again. From when Tiktaalik first walked on land, tetrapods would dominate the land. Arthropods had a short reign over them during the Carboniferous, before decreasing oxygen levels required them to shrink. The Permian extinction killed off more life than the Watchers could fathom, and the Mesozoic Era fueled even more diversity than previously seen. Up until the dinosaurs went extinct, the essence of dead life has been gathered by the Watchers in order to fulfill their own world.
